Edgewater Beach Hotel

The plush, resort-style Edgewater Beach Hotel, on the edge of Naples, FL, visually, might not have much more going on that any other luxury Florida hotel. We’re talking white walls, square buildings, palm trees, balconies. Classic plush, where nothing really stands out, for better or worse. It’s the superb location, and the superb hospitality though that really gets it done here. We love the way the hotel opens up towards the beach, with balconies situated to maximize the number of rooms with fantastic views of the sea. Staff are accommodating… > Read Our Full Review

The Penny Hotel Williamsburg

This slightly funky, mostly stylish boutique in the heart of Williamsburg is a don’t-miss, in our opinion. There are bright colors, some decent views, and a general vibe of pleasant intensity. There’s also very little grit which, while a quintessential part of Brooklyn charm, we usually prefer outside of our accommodation. The worst you’re going to get is a chance dog hair, courtesy of a very Balto-friendly pet policy. Rooms have a lot to offer, though the rest of the hotel amenities are pretty atypical. We’re talking art galleries and… > Read Our Full Review

Wildwood Lodge, Clive

Des Moines is a pleasant little city, but even then not all visitors want to be in the thick of things. If you can relate to that at all, this boutique lodge in Clive, about ten miles from the center, might just be for you. It’s called Wildwood Lodge and it’s all in on the rustic-ish Midwestern charm, with lots of polished wood, eclectic design and soft, cozy furnishings. We like that the common areas feel more lived in than the rooms, like you’ve come to the lake house with… > Read Our Full Review

The Wallace Hotel NYC

In our opinion, Manhattan’s Upper West Side doesn’t get the attention it deserves. If you’re not sure what we mean, The Wallace can help you with that. If you are sure, then you’ll know this hotel is worth a look. It’s nothing mind-blowing in terms of ambiance. We’ve got a lot of dark wood in the common areas, and a lot of white with bold accents in the rooms. But who wants a reinvented wheel, anyway? The Wallace has all the hallmarks of classic luxury, beautifully executed. The exterior oozes… > Read Our Full Review

The Siren Hotel

Who doesn’t like a good Homer reference in their tourism day-to-day? This Siren is a Downtown Detroit, Michigan boutique beauty from the sumptuous stylings of the Ash Hotel Group. It is housed in a Renaissance Revival building from 1923 – perfectly suited to the brand’s notably chic, vintage vibe. The lobby itself is a worth a stay, mysteriously curtained behind its floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s lavishly decorated with swathes of velvet, ornate golden furnishings, and warm lamplight that gives it a forever-nighttime vibe. It all matches perfectly with the building’s carved… > Read Our Full Review

Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse

There’s not much we love more than a hotel in an old building that wasn’t originally a hotel, and this Downtown Tampa boutique gem is no exception. There are endless elements of this renovated courthouse, however, that will have us snacking on humble pie in the courtyard café. The facade is stunning, the 1905 courthouse on full display, all Corinthian columns and marble hallways and an old judge’s desk for the concierge. They haven’t gone for historical accuracy, so history buffs shouldn’t get too excited. We’re not sure who would… > Read Our Full Review

Colcord Hotel

The number of truly lovely historic buildings in Downtown Oklahoma can be a welcome surprise, especially when so many are now gorgeous boutique hotels. This one is a 1910 registered Historic Hotel, a soaring construction of ornate stonework in the very center of the city. The common areas are all luxury – marble and shiny things and leather barstools. There are some touches retained from the original building, others are clearly added later. Polished marble and shiny metal fixtures work together well, and the steely gray of it all is… > Read Our Full Review

The Maritime Hotel, Chelsea

The Maritime Hotel, Chelsea, is a 1960s build, retro charmer, covered in porthole-esque windows that look like something out of a Soviet propaganda video for kids. The interiors, however, really draw you in. We’re talking lush balconies, wood paneling, all of the books, and some stunning mural work in the lobby. It does have a ship-like quality to it. The views aren’t limited to round windows; additional floor-to-ceiling glass provides plenty of natural light. Yet, there’s something special about seeing the NYC skyline through (extra large) peepholes that we love…. > Read Our Full Review

Hotel Drover

This sprawling hotel on Mule Alley in the Stockyards of Fort Worth is cowboy-flavored indulgence at its finest. Hotel Drover is a bit big for our standards, but the location is perfection and the property unique enough that we didn’t want to leave it out. We, it must be admitted, are real suckers for neons, especially in cool shapes. And there’s something, isn’t there, about a neon cowboy that makes the grand romance of the American West feel like it might just be real. It’s big, Texas luxury, with a… > Read Our Full Review

Nine Orchard Hotel NYC

Nine Orchard, a bank-turned boutique hotel in the SoHo side of the Lower East Side, is the result of an award-winning renovation. Following both the historical weight of the building and contemporary design trends, the space exude elegance. You can see the influence of contemporary design trends, sure, the full walls of patterned wallpapers being the most obvious. Yet, it’s all tempered by a deep respect 0f the original structure. Unsalvageable elements of the 1912 building have been painstakingly replicated, original blueprints used for work on the Swan Room, and… > Read Our Full Review

Tälta Lodge

Once again, we follow Lark Hotels through New England, now to the outskirts of Stowe, Vermont. This, the Tälta Lodge, is part of the hotel chain’s Bluebird group, a Scandinavian-inspired set of roadside hotels currently taking over the Northeast. The stylish yet youthful atmosphere is a welcome addition to sleepy mom-and-pop B&Bs and kitschy hunting lodges. A warm, cozy minimalism peppered with wood fireplaces and plenty of natural light leave the charm up to nature, which is more than up to the task. It’s ski country, and the roads are… > Read Our Full Review

ROOST East Market

The East Market location is one of the best-rated ROOSTs in Philly, a city full of apart-boutique-hotel mini-chain establishments. Settled effortlessly into five floors of a high-end residential building in a central neighborhood, this spot gives dream apartment fantasy all the way. From the modern elegance of the glass-plated entrance to the plant-filled living room, it feels like someone else’s, very glamorous, life. If you already have a Very Glamorous Life, you’ll feel right at home. Regardless, anyone looking at an extended stay in Philly can ensure a great experience…. > Read Our Full Review

The Greenwich Hotel

No, not that Greenwich; this gorgeous boutique hotel is named after the street, not the neighborhood, and is firmly in quieter, more residential, Tribeca. You’re not going to have a crazy New York City adventure on your doorstep here, but it is a refreshingly calm quarter of Manhattan, and the type of neighborhood you can quickly feel at home in. If you want to stumble directly home from a night out without a cab ride, it’s worth booking closer to nightlife. But, in our opinion, a 4 am cab ride… > Read Our Full Review

La Fonda on the Plaza

Few lists of the best accommodation in Santa Fe would be complete without a nod to this iconic hotel, a mainstay of Downtown’s historic district. It occupies of full block kitty-corner from the Plaza, perfectly blended into the adobe cityscape. Once here, you’ll feel like the entire city, is your hotel, ready to greet you as soon as you open the door. It’s a fairly straightforward place, with no gimmicks (besides being a 100-year-old building), that encourages you to get outside and walk around. You’d be perfectly happy inside, and… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel Trouvail, Miami Beach

A Palihouse location until 2022, this now-independent boutique hotel in Miami’s Mid-Beach touts cheery colors and a playful atmosphere. The Art Deco building, set along the Indian Creek Waterway, has been a hotel since inception, and suits the practice perfectly. Hotel Trouvail is bright and flirty on first impression, with clean, many-windowed white walls nestled within palm landscaping that gives the street-corner location a nice touch of privacy. One step inside the nicely decorated lobby and you can forget you’re in the heart of Miami tourism. At Hotel Trouvail you’ll… > Read Our Full Review

The Mark Hotel

Luxury is easy to find on the Upper East Side, personality a lot harder but this hotel has both. One of NYC’s most well known, it’s also the choice of celebrities thanks to its enormous penthouse, discreet service, and prime location a block from Central Park This is your chance for a luxurious stay, some celeb shoulder rubbing, and the ultimate in a swanky, but without the bland, Upper East Side experience.   What are the rooms like? Number of rooms: 152 Spacious layouts: starting at 400 sq ft, suites up… > Read Our Full Review

Palihouse Hotel Santa Monica

This Santa Monica boutique hotel is enticing from the very start, and nothing inside will contradict the first impressions. Built in 1927 as hotel apartments, the gorgeous building feels both sophisticated and inviting. It’s Mediterranean Revival in style, the exterior intricate and the courtyard beautifully landscaped. It has been a Santa Monica Historic Landmark since 2001 and the decor reflects this history without a hint of pastiche. Palihouse is our favorite of Palisociety’s boutique hotel brands, and their Santa Monica location proves why. Designed primarily for longer stays, the rooms… > Read Our Full Review
