Palihouse Hyde Park Village

Palihouse Hyde Park Village: The location is on the edge of odd, but in some ways it might be quite fitting to begin and end your days in Tampa at the mall. It’s, of course, not one of your LensCrafters and Orange Julius types. Hyde Park Village is an upscale open-air type of mall, sorry, ‘mixed-use development.’ Palihouse is an upscale boutique hotel snuggled into the corner, all dark wood and glass doors and tastefully mismatched prints. It’s the same old Palihouse vibe born in California, transplanted to the other… > Read Our Full Review

ROOST Tampa

A stay at a ROOST is never a horrible idea, but this Tampa, Florida, iteration of the boutique apart-hotel concept shows the small chain at its best. Water Street itself is a chic development project between Downtown Tampa and the Garrison Channel. It’s both central and waterfront, an excellent location for anyone getting to know the city. It’s also jam-packed with amenities targeted at a certain income level. Water Street is designed for yuppies, basically, to bring some life into a sometimes lackluster Downtown. Tucked into the first several floors or… > Read Our Full Review

Tampa EDITION

Despite a propensity for trendy phrases and a general feeling of a non-place, the Tampa EDITION reigns as one of Downtown Tampa’s most breathtaking hotels. The Marriott-backed chain clearly has a fantastic architectural design team; both the building and its decor are on point. It’s definitely on the large side for us, and they’re probably gunning for buzzword-happy tech money over the pug-toting boutique crowd. Yet, we still think it’s worth a glance; there’s probably a lot of overlap anyway. It’s hard to overlook a place with a veritable jungle… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel Haya, Tampa

This boutique hotel in Ybor, Tampa, Florida is on the larger side for us, but the super-chic architecture and the low-level building let it sneak through. It’s a sprawl of a space, taking up a full city block. But, with the courtyard in the center, you don’t really notice once you get inside. And we think it’s worth it to preserve the human-sized feel of Ybor, which is a nice foil to the many glass towers scattered throughout Tampa. Inside, we’re talking a casual vibe, with small touches of the… > Read Our Full Review

Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse

There’s not much we love more than a hotel in an old building that wasn’t originally a hotel, and this Downtown Tampa boutique gem is no exception. There are endless elements of this renovated courthouse, however, that will have us snacking on humble pie in the courtyard café. The facade is stunning, the 1905 courthouse on full display, all Corinthian columns and marble hallways and an old judge’s desk for the concierge. They haven’t gone for historical accuracy, so history buffs shouldn’t get too excited. We’re not sure who would… > Read Our Full Review
