Modern Hotel

We love a refurbished motel – and this ex-Travelodge in the center of Boise, Idaho is another nice example why. Owned by a long-running Boise family, the now-independent hotel shows the creativity that arises when turning one kind of building into another. We won’t lie, it’s definitely still a roadside establishment. If you want to walk out the door onto gorgeous streets to the next-door boutique, this will not do. Yet, any ho-hum interiors and cookie-cutter motel atmosphere have gone, leaving a sleek building with a serious sense of style…. > Read Our Full Review

The SPARROW

Vivid blade signs with cute typography? Check. Refurbished motor lodge in the heart Downtown Boise? Check. Part of a regional chain where each location has a different bird name? *swoon* It’s hard not to be charmed by this supremely cute boutique hotel, a new addition to Boise’s growing scene. The Nest group, out of Bozeman, Montana, prides itself in taking derelict buildings and completely revamping them into colorful, welcoming hotels. The SPARROW is one of three, a super-contemporary space built on the bones of an old hotel that had gone… > Read Our Full Review

Nothing is over the top, and a bit of velvet can work when surrounded by rich wood and chic lighting. It’s… > Read Our Full Review

Inn at 500 Capitol

In Boise, the best walking is by the river, and this upscale boutique hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the water. Besides the location, we’re looking at cute, spacious, luxury accommodation. With the red awnings, cute little balconies, and teal accents, it looks a bit like a Playmobil hotel, blown up life-size to appeal to the tiny, round-headed, elbow-less doll inside all of us. Besides a vague sense of plastic-yness, it’s everything you’d want out of a small hotel, pleasant from the ground up in the least pretentious of… > Read Our Full Review
