The Joule

This gem in the center of Dallas has that certain je ne sais quoi that makes a great boutique hotel. Sure, it’s obvious we like the long list of attractive amenities, and the stunning building, a former bank built in the 1920s. The incredible art collection is also a big plus, the spa is huge, there’s a pool and award-winning restaurants, and all the good things a good hotel should have. Yet still, The Joule still feels a bit more than the sum of its parts. The atmosphere has a… > Read Our Full Review

Hôtel Swexan

Texas isn’t the first place we think of when we hear ‘ultramodern global swank’, but seeing is believing, and this sleek boutique hotel in Dallas’ Harwood District has us convinced. A relatively new offering, Hôtel Swexan is a lovely addition to Uptown’s nest of Texas-size buildings, with Coruscant-esque walls of windows and an elegant verticality. Insides are equally glamorous, if a little less cohesive. You’ve got the polished southern glamour of the lobby, roadhouse neons in the halls, and an orientalist flair by the pool. Restaurants range from Pinterest-fueled velvet… > Read Our Full Review

Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

Dallas is a big place, and this 1925 mansion out in the Turtle Creek neighborhood is the perfect tribute to its smaller side. The area in question is quiet and residential, and this boutique hotel makes its own little oasis of opulence. The property was originally a mission revival manor, which burned in 1923 to be replaced by an opulent, Renaissance-style structure. The interiors are as extravagant as the exterior – fireplaces important from Germany, century-old marble columns from Rome. If you find obvious riches offputting, this place isn’t for… > Read Our Full Review

HALL Arts Hotel

This is a beautifully situated hotel in the artsy district of Downtown Dallas. And a sleek modern testament to the good taste of Hilton’s Curio Collection. This well-curated collection of gems from over the world has a soft spot for the unique, just like us. There are plenty of fairly conventional luxuries in the HALL Arts Hotel: brand-name sheets, all of the windows, a rooftop pool, etc. The real novelty lies in a local-meets-global collection of fine art distributed throughout. Its main strength is photography, but an additional set of… > Read Our Full Review

Hotel ZaZa

This Uptown Dallas boutique hotel is a lovely departure from the shiny-building-white-wall vibes of many of Dallas’ luxury options. ZaZa is a small chain of Texas hotels with a general vibe of quirky elegance. They do an excellent job, however, of blending into their neighborhoods, and each one feels at least a little like it belongs. In this case, we have a decidedly upscale kind of boho, like your best friend’s ex-hippie mom who married a climate change denier and now winters at a large beach house in Florida. Beautiful… > Read Our Full Review
