This Santa Monica boutique hotel is enticing from the very start, and nothing inside will contradict the first impressions.
Built in 1927 as hotel apartments, the gorgeous building feels both sophisticated and inviting.
It’s Mediterranean Revival in style, the exterior intricate and the courtyard beautifully landscaped.
It has been a Santa Monica Historic Landmark since 2001 and the decor reflects this history without a hint of pastiche.
Palihouse is our favorite of Palisociety’s boutique hotel brands, and their Santa Monica location proves why.
Designed primarily for longer stays, the rooms are spacious and the shared spaces intimate. At Palihouse you’ll find the best parts of both hotel and home.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Food: Onsite breakfast and lunch; menus with local ingredients served in the courtyard.
- Cooking: Suites with kitchens let guests enjoy produce from Santa Monica’s Farmers Market.
- Leisure: Courtyards with croquet and Bocce ball; mocktails and coffees available.
- Wellness: Peloton-equipped fitness center and Linus bicycles for beach rides.
Santa Monica has a famous Farmer’s Market, and we recommend booking a suite with a full kitchen so you can take advantage of the fresh produce.
Take advantage of a hotel-organized tour of the Market while you’re at it.
If you’re dying to check out the Santa Monica culinary scene, this is the perfect home base. The hotel serves some tasty breakfast and lunch items, but you’ll need to go outside for dinner and drinks.
The onsite menu focuses on local ingredients, and you can enjoy them in the courtyards with mocktails and/or tasty coffees.
The courtyards are the heart of the shared spaces, and you can take a croquet or Bocce ball set out onto the green in your downtime.
The hotel has a Pelaton-equipped fitness center, though we’d also recommend taking their Linus bicycles to the beach.

And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“My favorite place to stay in LA. I have stayed at The Georgian a number of times and love the location, style and views. The team that work there including Amanda, Natalie, Aziel, Jeffrey and Orlando are most welcoming and diligent.…”
“Everything exceeded my expectations. This hotel is a bucket list item from the art deco details to the perfect Santa Monica beach front location. Manager Tiffany Mirander went above and beyond to create the most amazing stay for my partner and I. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. They offer cruisers to bike along the beach, the most amazing hidden speakeasy, and a view of the pier. In walking distance to the best restaurants and shopping, or take one of their beach towels and walk across one street to get to the beach. Just book it already!….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”I appreciate it is an old building however, we had a problem with our toilet and the elevator is very old and hard to manage on your own with a lot of luggage. However, there is staff on hand who will help you with luggage….”
”The bathroom needs a do over. It is not only small, but it lacks lighting. The shower over tube is very small and inconvenient. I have a large room with kitchen and it is spacious. The carpet needs to be updated….”
