Camden Harbor Inn

Sure, Camden, Maine is very picturesque anyway, but the Camden Harbor Inn takes the cake. Perched on the top of a small hill leading up from Camden Harbor, the 19th-century mansion displays the sort of natural grandeur that no number of uniformed bellboys or gilded door-lions could reproduce. It’s pure Midcoast beauty, the bright white building, stone walls and impeccable landscaping including a formidable tree set to turn all sorts of colors in the fall. Once inside, the contemporary furnishings don’t match perfect with the rest of the experience, but… > Read Our Full Review

The Norumbega Hotel

There’s no avoiding Camden on a Maine Coast tour. And, if you planned to hang out for a bit, you couldn’t choose a better base than The Norumbega Hotel. The hotel is open seasonally, so if you were hoping to watch the winter waves from the porch, you’re out of luck. Bluebird’s light, breezy clapboard doesn’t seem made to keep you warm in winter anyway. This part of the world is generally much more pleasant in the… > Read Our Full Review

16 Bay View Hotel

Only an absurd list of Maine’s boutique hotels would lack post-industrial brick, and we’ve included this Camden gem to honor the Vacationland tradition. 16 Bay View was built in 1905, transformed into a hotel more than a century later. The industrial vibe didn’t survive beyond the iconic waterfront brick, instead replaced with something more upscale. Forget murals, open concepts, or any other ploys used in the warehouse conversion process. 16 Bay View has beautiful decor in a beautiful building with a beautiful view, and really, what more do you need?… > Read Our Full Review
