26 Best, Genuine Boutique Hotels in Manhattan in 2026
New York’s boutique hotels are as varied as the city itself, and where you stay makes a big difference. All of the hotels on this list are there because we like them a lot, but overall if we had to pick one absolute favorite in NYC we just might choose The Bowery Hotel.
We love the old school celeb. character, the speakeasy den-like ambience and the in-the-heart-of-it-all Lower Manhattan location, but that’s just us; there are so many great hotels on this list.
Down in SoHo, for example, the Crosby Street Hotel is another one of our absolute favorites; we love its incredibly bold, Kit Kemp fueled design.
For classic upscale New York in a classic upscale New York setting, The Mark Hotel puts you on the Upper East Side, just a block from Central Park, while The Carlyle is another Upper East Side gem with old-school glamor and a real sense of New York history.
NYC hotels are notoriously super expensive of course, so if keeping costs down matters, Riverside Tower Hotel gives you a reasonably priced base on the Upper West Side, close to Central Park and the quieter, more residential side of Manhattan. Over in Brooklyn, Wythe Hotel is our favorite for that classic Williamsburg industrial-chic vibe, with East River and Manhattan views adding to the appeal, especially at the rooftop bar.
For a more upscale, polished hotel in Brooklyn 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge has one of the best settings, and rooftop bars, in our whole selection, right beside Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Manhattan skyline across the water.
As I said, those were just a few of our favorites but there are too many to choose from, and we like all the hotels we have listed in different ways.

Every Manhattan boutique hotel on this list has something to love about it, and they are all genuinely boutique; otherwise, they wouldn’t have made this list.
But, as we get asked this often, if we had to pick one overall favorite, The Bowery Hotel in Lower Manhattan would probably get our vote.
We love its moody old-NYC character, den-like celeb haunt bar, and East Village location.
As design lovers, Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo is also a particular favorite of ours, with its wonderfully bold, Kit Kemp-designed interiors.
If classic Manhattan luxury is what you’re after, The Mark Hotel and The Carlyle are great choices on the Upper East Side, particularly if being close to Central Park matters.
For a quieter, more residential stay, The Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca is hard to beat.
If nightlife and being in the thick of things are more important, The Manner puts you right in the middle of SoHo, while The Standard, East Village is another good option for a younger, livelier atmosphere.
And, as Manhattan sure ain’t cheap, if you’re trying to keep costs down, The Lucerne on the Upper West Side is one of the better-value choices.
