John Hand Club Hotel

This Downtown Birmingham boutique hotel is hidden away on a few floors of a locally very famous building. It’s easy to miss its six suites just underneath the indubitably posh John Hand Club, which takes up the top floor of the stunning 1912 skyscraper. We’ll be honest, it’s definitely a vibe that you’ll want to buy into. The club requires all guests stay business-casual on the upper floor; there’s no way you’ll be enjoying the hotel amenities in your comforts. If you like the idea of hobnobbing in your pumps… > Read Our Full Review

Grand Bohemian Mountain Brook

This Birmingham, Alabama boutique hotel offers a nice relaxing stay, but with a dash of quirk thrown in. In the peaceful neighborhood of Mountain Brook, the Grand Bohemian is absolutely set up for lazy days. It’s part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, so there’s a base level of luxury you can trust. It’s like that really rich kid you went to high school with has invited everyone to his parents’ giant house while they’re out of town. There are plenty of rooms, and the pool always looks ready for a dip…. > Read Our Full Review

The Valley Hotel

At first glance, this boutique hotel, in Homewood, Birmingham, might not have the boutique vibe you’d expect. Once you take in the surroundings, the outside spaces, and the super-cute lobby, however, we think you’ll understand where we’re coming from. Sure, it’s part of Hilton’s Curio Collection and you can definitely expect that little bit of cookie-cutter panache. This is nicely undercut by some quirky buildings across the street and a sort of apartment building atmosphere to the whole complex. This will shock virtually no one, but the staff has all… > Read Our Full Review

Redmont Hotel

The Redmont Hotel, Birmingham, Alabama,  opened in 1925, as a 200-key luxury guesthouse. At that time, its ensuite bathrooms were the height of opulence. Of course, as the years have progressed the hotel has undergone plenty of work, but it’s maintained a definite air of prestige. We love the eye-catching exterior, a grand sandy brick number with wrought iron awnings. Inside, well. We usually feel like the Hilton Curio partnership makes it easy to recommend a hotel, but we’re not convinced the chain has done the upkeep the place deserves…. > Read Our Full Review

The Painted Lady

This red-brick charmer in the center of Birmingham, is the city’s most boutique-y boutique hotel. It starts with a would-be nondescript brick building on the corner across from a mixed-use complex featuring local beers, sushi, a gym, and an event space. It’s an interesting location, and the hotel is very clearly a new and exciting addition to an up-and-coming area. If you go up the chain of command far enough, you’ll find that The Painted Lady comes from the boutique genius of Lark Hotels, one of our go-to small chains…. > Read Our Full Review
