Sugar Hill Inn

Sugar Hill is no chic, design-driven urban boutique but for us the White Mountains deserve a ‘when in Rome’ philosophy. When you’re looking out the window at feet of snow, a roaring fire, stellar meal and wool blanket is going much further than a couple of throw pillows, no matter how well the print goes with the wallpaper. And that’s why we like the Sugar Hill Inn. It’s not a well-curated throw pillow or a pricey antique brought in from New York. It’s a gorgeous historic farmhouse with straightforward decor… > Read Our Full Review

Adair Country Inn

It’s not super hard to find a cute, homey inn in the Whites, but we put Bethlehem’s Adair Country Inn on the top tier. Off a long country road off another long country road, we’re looking at the perfect image of a secluded New England getaway. Add in supremely cozy rooms, gourmet home cooking, and adventures all around, and you’ve got an idyllic vacation. It’s nothing mind-blowing, but there’s consistent quality all around and a restaurant open to the public that has both guests and locals coming back again and… > Read Our Full Review

Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa

The initial approach might not feel super boutique hotel, but Whitefield, NH’s famous, sprawling compound keeps a leisurely kind of friendliness within its buttery yellow walls that we look for in our favorite boutiques. The building does look quite vast, but is quite manageable once the first impression wears off. As you come up the long, rural access road, it’s easily to be overwhelmed by the cheerful expanse of hotel. Once inside, however, it’s easy to see that the space is needed to accommodate guest rooms, a spa, tennis courts,… > Read Our Full Review

The Mulburn Inn

If you love the quaintness of the Whites but want a little walkability, this Main Street, Bethlehem boutique inn is the perfect spot. Set cutely on the side of Maplewood Ave that leads out of town, the inn is a stylishly renovated 1908 number. It features a spectacular windowed porch, turret-like features that don’t seem as tacky as usual, and a gorgeous stone foundation. It was all built in 1908 by the same architect as the local fancy hotel the Omni Mount Washington. The larger hotel is iconic, we won’t… > Read Our Full Review

The Inn at Thorn Hill

There’s no shortage of stately house-hotels in the Whites, so we want you to know that we mean it when we give this Jackson, NH luxury boutique inn a top spot. It’s tucked off a rural street on the edges of downtown Jackson, which is pretty secluded all on its own. Getting there is part homecoming, part adventure. There’s not nearly enough town to get lost in, but the roads seem full of promises, and so does the inn. The small mansion is filled to the brim with creature comforts,… > Read Our Full Review
