TL;DR
- Upscale location on the edge of Hyde Park Village, Tampa
- Palihouse vibe dark wood, glass doors, and mismatched prints
- Brand consistency with California-born Palihouse style
- Stylish surroundings in a mixed-use upscale mall

Palihouse Hyde Park Village: The location is on the edge of odd, but in some ways it might be quite fitting to begin and end your days in Tampa at the mall.
It’s, of course, not one of your LensCrafters and Orange Julius types. Hyde Park Village is an upscale open-air type of mall, sorry, ‘mixed-use development.’
Palihouse is an upscale boutique hotel snuggled into the corner, all dark wood and glass doors and tastefully mismatched prints.
It’s the same old Palihouse vibe born in California, transplanted to the other ocean. Honestly, we think it fits in quite well.
You’re definitely getting a brand, and you’ll be surrounded by other brands. If that’s likely to bother you, we can find you something a smidge more vernacular.
For those, like us, who are pretty all-in on the Palihouse vibe, that’ll be just fine.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 36
- Breezy and eclectic decor with dark wood and Florida brass accents
- Variety of sizes from King Singles to Corner Kings over 400 sq ft
- Features include large TVs, rain showers, Bellino Linens, and robes

- See each room in detail here
Rooms have the breezy eccentricity of the brand, toned down just a bit for the East Coast.
Furnishings clearly aren’t antiques, but they hint at it, and the brass and marble are pure Florida.
Each room is just a bit different; each one reminiscent of a little studio apartment you found after landing a PR gig for the Tampa Bulletin in some temporal fold where the 40s meets the 70s.
King Singles start at a very comfortable 300 square feet, with larger Queen Doubles and Deluxe Queens that sleep up to 4.
There are ADA options and super-plush Corner Kings with the most room, over 400 square feet.
They’re all beautifully decorated, comfortable, friendly and stylish.
Every room features a large TV and a rain shower, with Bellino Linens and cozy robes for lounging.
The King Single sports a Nespresso machine, mini fridge and mini bar; all other options include kitchenettes.

How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Upscale residential district with lovely walking paths
- Hyde Park Village for food, drink, and entertainment
- Close to University of Tampa and downtown Tampa
- Cultural spots include Tampa Theater, Museum of Art, and Henry B. Plant Museum
- Historic Ybor district 10-minute drive for local dining and bars
The neighborhood is interesting. It’s not the most hopping part of Tampa, but rather an upscale residential district.
It makes for lovely walks around the area, checking out the fancy houses, but the Village is probably one of the best places to find food, drink, and entertainment.
It’s relatively close to the University of Tampa, less than 5 minutes driving or a vaguely uninteresting 25-minute walk.
Downtown will take just over 5 minutes, an easy drive to most of the main attractions.
Here, you’ll find the gorgeous Tampa Theater, the Tampa Museum of Art, and the super-Victorian Henry B. Plant Museum.
There’s a long pathway leading from the art museum along the Hillsborough River that’s definitely worth a lazy afternoon.
If you want something a bit more hip and local, head to Ybor, the historic district on the other side of the city.
It’s about a 10-minute drive to Ybor Square, around which you’ll find the Tampa Brewing Company, a handful of event spaces, and plenty of places to eat, drink, and hang.
