This boutique hotel in Ybor, Tampa, Florida is on the larger side for us, but the super-chic architecture and the low-level building let it sneak through.
It’s a sprawl of a space, taking up a full city block. But, with the courtyard in the center, you don’t really notice once you get inside.
And we think it’s worth it to preserve the human-sized feel of Ybor, which is a nice foil to the many glass towers scattered throughout Tampa.
Inside, we’re talking a casual vibe, with small touches of the post-industrial.
It’s balanced by many sophisticated touches that keep the hotel perfectly balanced between fresh and posh.
The biggest drawback to the size is the hotel-y feel of the interiors.
It’s definitely got personality, but you know all the rooms look basically the same as yours.
For many, this isn’t really an issue, and those people will find their needs easily met.
Yet, if you dream of a unique space that makes you feel like this room was just made for you, we can find you something better.

Classic rooms are King Singles or Queen Doubles, with walk-in showers and desk areas. Nothing is super small; the Kings come in around 300 square feet.
Deluxe options either look out towards the courtyard or have super cute street-side balconies that make you feel like Eloise in Paris.
These all follow the same basic color scheme, a sophisticated mesh of primaries.
It keeps things friendly without seeming childish, each room featuring a healthy dose of a deep blue with red and yellow accents.
Suites range from Junior to One-Bedroom to the signature Floridian suite, which features the best decor in the place, a lovely dose of mustards and tans and unique furniture pieces.
Other suites are basically the same vibe as the rooms, with some stylish exposed walls and balconies.
All rooms include very nice tiled bathrooms stocked with Grown Alchemist amenities and Frette towels.
Blackout curtains, TVs, mini bars, and working/seating areas fill out the space.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Dining: Café Quiquiriqui for casual Cuban fare, Flor Fina for brunch and dinner, poolside bites and drinks.
- Facilities: Private cabanas, loungers, fitness center, afternoon DJ sets, day passes for non-guests.
Dining is found throughout the hotel, from casual to chic to poolside.
Café Quiquiriqui gives the neighborhood café vibe, with a super selection of Cuban goodies and coffees.
Flor Fina is the restaurant-with-a-capital-R, with a lovely open dining area, some serious international flair, and an all-day brunch on weekdays. We wouldn’t dream of saying no.
It’s got a weekend brunch and dinner as well, everything elegant and hearty. It’ll all go great with a rum cocktail from an impressive list of bar creations.
Once you’re ready to hit the pool, you can relax with a nice selection of small bites and cool drinks from Flor Fina’s menu.
They offer private cabanas and loungers as well, connected to a fitness center and with afternoon DJ sets that attract both guests and locals alike.
Day passes are available for non-guests, giving it a social atmosphere rather than a spot of aggressive relaxation.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- History: Ybor, Tampa, known for cigar production and Cuban heritage.
- Architecture: Preserved brick storefronts along 7th Avenue and Ybor Square nearby.
- Culture: Walking distance to restaurants, event spaces, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Farmer’s Market.
- Access: Downtown under 10 minutes by car, Channelside waterfront and Aquarium nearby.
Ybor has been the rising star of Tampa neighborhoods for a while now, originally the home of Tampa’s cigar production.
This development was spearheaded by (shockingly) Vicente Ybor, but also Ignacio Haya, namesake of the hotel.
This, plus a healthy dose of urban planning and historical preservation, has made for a neighborhood with plenty of history and a lot of Cuban flair.
You’ll find plenty of preserved brick storefronts along 7th Avenue, just minutes from the hotel.
The gorgeous Ybor Square building is only a block away.
Other attractions in walking distance include event spaces, many restaurants, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, and the Ybor City Farmer’s Market, which is worth a visit if you’re there on a Saturday.
If you want to head Downtown, you can make it in under 10 minutes, or probably a full 10 minutes if you have University business.
You can spend a day checking out the Tampa Theatre, the Museum of Art, and the super-Victorian Henry B. Plant Museum.
If you want some waterfront, head Channelside, where you’ll find the Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park and the Aquarium.
