This boutique hotel has been part of the Downtown Spokane landscape for more than a century, and a hotel for almost as long.
The historic building, renovated in 2020, is a gorgeous red brick number built in 1911.
It sits right on the corner in the center of the city, all wrought iron, gleaming windows and, one of our favorites, a glowing blade sign on the corner.
Hotel Indigo, IHG’s casual take on the boutique hotel craze, doesn’t always rise to the top of the lists.
Their locations are exquisite, they have a knack for finding the perfect neighborhood for the boutique hotel experience, but they don’t go as hard on the flair.
They’re rarely coated in custom wallpaper or filled with hand-selected antiques.
Think of them as the Jennifer Aniston of boutique hotels. Hotel Indigo Spokane is that one episode of 30 Rock with all the hats.
It has a lot we like: cozy rooms, superb service, and plenty of historical charm.

Rooms are kind of a mix between a conventional hotel room and your first apartment after landing a full-time job.
They’re spacious, especially for a historic hotel, with a relaxed contemporary vibe.
Everything is quite new, with a tinge of sterility but enough personality to feel friendly and cozy. Light fixtures are cute and there’s color, but none of it we find garish.
Standard Rooms include Single Kings, Double Queens and options with one King and one Queen that work well for small families.
The Two-Bedroom Suites are perhaps better for groups, with one King and two Queen beds.
Whatever you choose, you’ll enjoy a coffee maker, TV, working area, and all the basic amenities. ADA and other options are available, we’d recommend double-checking with the hotel before booking.

The onsite restaurant, Dona Magnolia, is open for a-la-carte breakfast. They also serve lunch and dinner and a nice afternoon happy hour.
The cuisine is New American, diverse flavors incorporated into classics. They’ve equipped the 24/7 fitness center with cardio machines, free weights, and wall paintings.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Walkability: Tucked among local cider house, consignment shop, dispensary, and 15-minute walk to Riverfront Park.
- Cultural: Mobius Discovery Center, Saranac Art Projects, Fox Theatre, Brick West Brewing, Barrister Winery, seasonal wine bar and art gallery.
- Nearby areas: Spokane Pavilion, Spokane Arena, Kendall Yards for hip dining/shopping, Marmot Art Space for local art.
If you’re in Spokane to relax, it’s definitely the right place.
The hotel is tucked between a super cute local cider house, a consignment shop, and a dispensary, pick your poison.
It’s also one of the more walkable areas of town, just 15 minutes to Riverfront Park. From here you can wander the greenery towards either the falls or the dam, with lovely views of the water and city.
The Park is also full of public artworks and close to cultural attractions like the Mobius Discovery Center or Saranac Art Projects.
The hotel itself is walking distance to the gorgeous Fox Theatre, Brick West Brewing and the Barrister Winery, home to a seasonal outdoor wine bar and an art gallery.
Bigger venues like the Spokane Pavilion and the Spokane Arena will be closer to the north of town, which also has some nice spots to check out.
Kendall Yards provides hip dining and shopping, while Marmot Art Space has local visual art.
We would probably recommend driving to the north side if you’re planning to spend a lot of time wandering.
The walk through the parks is sweet, but a bit of a trek.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The location was convenient to I-90, and the bakery across the street is fantastic. Our room was spacious, especially the bathroom. It was great that our room had a mini split for heat. The hotel was beautifully renovated….”
“Cool older building close to interstate and downtown some good places to eat close by..Old Spagetti warehouse and definitely check out the awesome breakfast at Molly Family Restaurant..Staff was awesome…..”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”We would have appreciated parking that wasn’t valet and/or less expensive parking. Automatic front doors or at least an option for it is needed, especially for accessibility….”
”Sliding doors on bathrooms = zero privacy. Noise between rooms (at least our room because it adjoined another)….”
