How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
• Location – At the start of Mountain Road, edge of town
• Downtown – Cafés, boutiques, galleries, and farmer’s market
• Outdoors – Recreation Path, hikes, skiing, scenic drives
• Nearby nature – Mount Mansfield, Stowe Mountain, Putnam Forest
• Local charm – Covered bridges, antiques, farm stands
Mountain Road, the main thoroughfare leading out of Stowe, is both a popular, and ideal location for a ski lodge/hotel.
The Field Guide sits at the beginning, right at the edge of town.
The downtown area features cafés, cute boutique shops, art galleries and more. It’s basically everything you’d expect from a New England ski town, with an extra dose of being one of the most popular and well-regarded.
On Sundays you can visit the Stowe Farmer’s Market to try out some excellent produce and locally-made snacks.
Thanks to the Stowe Recreation Path, you can do some outdoor adventuring entirely on foot, but you’ll probably want some wheels (two or four, there are plenty of options for each) to see everything there is to see.
Mount Mansfield and Stowe Mountain are an easy drive, with Putnam State Forest nearby as well.
Once you’re driving around you’ll catch many hidden gems, like covered bridges, antique stores, farm stands and more.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Room was spacious. Good selection at breakfast. Plenty of common areas to sit/gather. Great location in town….”
“The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the Main Street area with shops and restaurants. The property looked like it was recently refurbished. There were many sitting areas throughout the hotel both inside and out. The breakfast food was good. Our room and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. The air conditioner worked well. The employees were very friendly….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The breakfast was almost gone by 9 every day. We were upgraded to the summit room as my mom couldn’t do stairs. The room was very small and had no space for luggage. Bathroom was even smaller with no water pressure….”
”It would be helpful if there is a business nook/center with a laptop and all in one printer and scanner….”
