TL;DR
- More grown-up vibe: than its trendier sister property next door
- Eclectic design: mixing antique, upmarket, and practical
- Comfort-focused: with space to make your own
- Best suited: for those who like things laid back and sophisticated
- Check prices here
We love the Lark firm’s boutique chic Stowe hotels like the Field Guide Lodge, but this sister (cousin) property next door feels a little less trendy, and a bit more grown up, despite a common area that would look at home at your teenage summer camp.
The Bluebird Hotels are marketed as properties ‘deeply rooted in their locations,’ most located in towns and cities with a flair for adventure. Bluebird Cady Hill is one of the best examples of this philosophy.
The space is very house-ish, very ‘your stepmom’s timeshare,’ and congrats to your stepmom for her excellent taste.
There’s a mix of antique, eclectic and up-market that all makes sense together.
The decor is unlikely to blow anyone’s mind. Instead, the array of high-quality furnishings and decor trusts you to bring whatever you need, be it bottles of tequila or your favorite mountain bike.
If you need a little glitz or novelty in your vacation, this probably won’t be for you. However, those who want something a little sophisticated, a little laid back, and a lot comfortable, couldn’t do better.
What are the rooms like?
- 55 rooms: ranging from Kings and Queens to suites
- Natural finishes: with wood, brick, and stone accents
- Suites and cottages: with kitchens, fireplaces, and outdoor space
- Private entrances: and fireplaces in many rooms
- See each room in detail here
Rooms feature a lot of naked wood and a lot of paneling, for a natural yet mature finish that goes well with the earthy tones of the textiles and the occasional touch of brick and stone.
Mostly in the main house, options range from Kings and Double Queens to spacious suites with patios and fireplaces.
There are plenty of options, all of them comfortable, though if the King Junior Suites match your budget and/or needs, we recommend snagging one.
You’ll also find two standalone buildings, one called a Cabin, the other a Cottage, both perfect places for groups, with full kitchens, multiple bedrooms, fireplaces and private outdoor areas.
All rooms include TVs, some kind of seating, mini fridges, and room essentials. Many have private entrances, balconies, and fireplaces.

And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The folks behind the Bluebird Cady Lodge know hospitality! Great, creative ideas are running through this lodge, making for one enjoyable stay. Some terrific restaurants right across the street, too….”
“Very comfortable room with excellent linens and pillows. The location was excellent—close to town and restaurants….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The pool/hot tub although warm were tepid. Especially the hot tub when it’s cold you don’t want to sit in tepid bubbly water. We also needed something repaired in the room but maintenance didn’t come and after 30mins of waiting we temporarily fixed ourselves, it was the blind so needed to be fixed as others could see directly into the room….”
”Some cutlery in the room would have been nice….”
