TL;DR
- Modern glam: Sleek glass tower with Art Deco touches.
- Design-focused: Interiors are stylish, geometric, and contemporary.
- Not historic: Best for travelers who love glitz over grit.

A lot of Downtown San Antonio’s charm is stucco buildings and ageless architecture, but that’s not all of it.
Take this gleaming glass tower of a hotel, taller and more reflective than any of its counterparts.
The Thompson, from Hyatt, is on bigger side of how we like our boutiques, but its sleek modern zhuzh is undeniable.
The building itself has plenty of little hints at Art Deco, and the interiors lean in.
Light fixtures are grand and the walls geometric. Nothing is pastiche, however, the entire establishment is undeniably of the now.
It’s not going to do much for travelers who like the nitty-gritty or the historical, but anyone with an eye for glitz will be more than satisfied.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Dining choices: Landrace offers rotating local menus.
- Sky-high eats: The Moon’s Daughters on the 20th floor with epic views.
- Relaxation: Pool deck, cabanas, spa treatments, and rooftop yoga.
Landrace, the onsite restaurant, serves a selection of local delights on a menu that changes fairly often.
It’s hard to say exactly what choices you’ll get, but you’re likely to enjoy them.
If you’re not super hungry, we might tentatively encourage you to skip the 1st floor and head up to the 20th.
Here you’ll find The Moon’s Daughters. To be honest, we think it’s bit unfair to put any other restaurant in the same building as this one.
The view is superb, especially from the outside deck, where you’ll find stylish couches set up for a long lounge.
The primary focus is drinks, with a solid menu of signature cock- and mocktails. The beer list could be more diverse, but they’ve chosen a brewery and stuck with it, and we won’t fault them for loyalty.
There are a selection of small plates and bar bites as well, if you get a bit peckish.
On the 4th floor, you’ll find the pool deck, a sunny spot reserved for hotel and residence guests.
You can rent cabanas and enjoy snacks and drinks while you float around.
Wellness services at the onsite spa are the perfect way to indulge on vacation, and the rooftop yoga is a don’t-miss for anyone who wants to move a bit.
