This gem in the center of Dallas has that certain je ne sais quoi that makes a great boutique hotel.
Sure, it’s obvious we like the long list of attractive amenities, and the stunning building, a former bank built in the 1920s.
The incredible art collection is also a big plus, the spa is huge, there’s a pool and award-winning restaurants, and all the good things a good hotel should have.
Yet still, The Joule still feels a bit more than the sum of its parts.
The atmosphere has a sophisticated comfort woven from velvety couches and soft lighting that isn’t so much chasing a vibe as it is letting the place show its true colors.
So, yes, we will be more than happy if you do yourself a favor and give it a go.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 160 in total.

- Options: From compact Demi-Joule to oversized Premier Rooms and luxury suites.

Rooms are elegant combinations of soft color and subtly modern patterns, warm wood and crisp Sferra linens.
The many room options aren’t exactly uniform, but they have a similar timeless style.
The baseline is a Deluxe Room, at a spacious 350 square feet with either a queen, king or two double beds.
It’s not for everyone, but us lovers of cute things are slightly enchanted by all 212 square feet of the Demi-Joule Double.
The one double bed tucked into the cozy space feels made for the solo traveler.
For those who want more space, rather than less, we’ve got the oversized Premier Rooms with king beds and two doubles.
Suites up the ante a little, scattered with decor that feels like it was commissioned by your intimidating aunt and her psychiatrist boyfriend when they bought their third home.
The upscale elegance is still there, with the added ambiance of luxury with a capital L.
Depending on what you book, we’re talking soaking tubs, sofa beds, workstations, insane views, and dining rooms.
Regardless of your budget, number, or choice, you’ll enjoy beautifully curated mini bars, HDTVs, rainfall showers, and daily newspapers on request.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Main dining: CBD Provisions serves upscale Texas brasserie fare.
- Italian option: Sassetta brings bright, Mediterranean flavors.
- Drinks & nightlife: Midnight Rambler cocktail bar, Lobby Bar, poolside drinks.
- Wellness: Seasonal rooftop pool, fitness center, and full-service spa.
Like the rest of the hotel, the food is top-notch. There’s quite a selection as well.
Despite the unfortunate name, CBD provisions (it stands for Central Business District, and we assume they’ll cede defeat eventually, but it’s still Texas and today is not that day) is a gorgeous American brasserie.
It’s definitely proud of the meat, all-in as a testament to an undeniably Texas cuisine. We’re talking carnitas next to shrimp and grits and a long list of local draft beers.
If you’d rather go international, Sassetta is a bright, Italian-inspired restaurant great for lunch and dinner.
Drinkers will want to head downstairs to Midnight Rambler, the underground bar with superb cocktails and regular DJ events.
Not to be outdone by any other hotel, we get to the obligatory Lobby Bar, the daytime coffee shop, and easy access to sunbathing drinks at the poolside bar.
They’re a nice touch, but you don’t need booze to enjoy yourself at the seasonal rooftop pool. There are cabanas for rent and plenty of places to stretch out.
If you’d rather work up a sweat without the sun’s help, there’s a 24-hour fitness center. It’s not the most impressive you’ll find, but it’s well-equipped and gets the job done.
Once the job is done, give the muscles a rest at the spa. It features an extensive menu of treatments, from classic mani-pedis to body scrubs or tech-heavy facials.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?

- Culture: Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Opera House within reach.
- History: JFK Memorial Plaza, Holocaust Museum, and other landmarks to the west.
- Nightlife: Deep Ellum offers barbecue, boutiques, cafés, and live music.
It’s hard to get more central than this.
The hotel is smack in the middle of the Central Business District, surrounded by luxury hotels, meeting spaces, and chic restaurants for smarmy business dinners.
Whatever else you want on your vacation, pick it and head in that direction. The hotel is almost equidistant from all the most attractive spots.
For posh shopping and upscale wandering, head into Uptown. You’ll pass Klyde Warren Park, a nice urban green space that’s worth a walk through.
For culture, head north to the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Winspear Opera House.
Head west for history. Here you’ll find the JFK Memorial Plaza, the Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, and other historical landmarks from Dallas’s olden days.
Finally, nightlife is the most exciting to the east, in Deep Ellum.
It’s a super-hip neighborhood with cute boutiques, snobby cafés, and a whole host of restaurants, including some great barbecue.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The amenity were amazing, from the restaurant on site, with a spa + a downstairs bar! The faculty was top tier, very kind and didn’t let us lift a finger. Very accommodating and made our stay a 10/10!…”
“Beautiful big rooms. A great bathroom and one which made sense for double sink usage etc. very comfortable bed and a good nights sleep even on NYE. Staff were welcoming and friendly….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”It falls into the category of hotels who take from you rather than give to you with the minibar being very expensive, breakfast not being included etc. didn’t impact our stay or experience but would be more customer focussed to be included….”
”That the speakeasy bar isn’t open at all times….”
