TL;DR
- Historic charm: 1925 Renaissance-style mansion in Turtle Creek.
- Lavish interiors: Imported fireplaces, Roman marble, winding staircases.
- Exclusive vibe: Quiet residential area, perfect for a luxury escape.
Dallas is a big place, and this 1925 mansion out in the Turtle Creek neighborhood is the perfect tribute to its smaller side.
The area in question is quiet and residential, and this boutique hotel makes its own little oasis of opulence.
The property was originally a mission revival manor, which burned in 1923 to be replaced by an opulent, Renaissance-style structure.
The interiors are as extravagant as the exterior – fireplaces important from Germany, century-old marble columns from Rome.
If you find obvious riches offputting, this place isn’t for you.
If, however, you can appreciate beauty for itself, the winding staircases and checkered floors are sure to charm.

Rooms are soft, easy spaces of plush white and sandy accents. Damask paneling sneaks some of the exterior glamour into the living spaces, but overall the rooms are a subtle kind of luxury.
Room types include King Singles and Queen Doubles in various levels of plush. Some have particularly nice views, others patios, others soaking tubs in the bathrooms. Most sport small balconies.
Suites are almost twice as big as the guest rooms, which are not small.
Each is unique, but generally, they include foyers, sitting rooms and balconies. One or two have kitchenettes.
All accommodation includes super plush Italian linens, robes and slippers, big-screen TVs, Bluetooth speakers, coffee machines, and a well-stocked minibar.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?

- Bar: Chic and sultry space for relaxed meals and cocktails.
- Wellness: In-room and onsite massage and wellness services.
- Fitness: Gym with sauna, workout studio, and jogging trails nearby.
- Pool: 25-meter year-round pool, relaxation-focused.
The hotel sports a fine-dining restaurant and a bar. The cuisine is primarily American with French touches, served in an exquisite dining room or a romantic terrace.
The bar is a chic spot for slightly more relaxed cuisine and cocktails. The vibe is sultry, with buttery leather chairs and low, dappled lighting.
While there is technically no spa, the hotel has a selection of massage and wellness services available in-room or in one of a few onsite treatment rooms.
And, the fitness center has a sauna, so we feel more or less comfortable saying you can get a spa experience. A rose by any other name, right?
The fitness center also includes a well-equipped workout studio, though if you prefer to work out outside it is super easy. Park and jogging trails are just out the door.
Finally, the swimming pool is the perfect place for a sunny day, 25 meters and open year-round. Do note that the pool is slated for relaxation – pool toys and loud music is not permitted.

Turtle Creek is a residential-ish area north of Uptown. The hotel is an easy walk to Turtle Creek Parkway Park.
This long, idyllic green area runs along (you won’t believe this) Turtle Creek, with many spots to stop and enjoy the views.
It’s a lovely piece of nature in a big city you’re certain to enjoy having access to.
You can cross the park, also, to get into Uptown. You’re unlikely to want to walk the entirety of central Dallas, but the way the neighborhoods intersect, you could start here and head all the way downtown.
Walk or drive, take a second for a far more urban bark, Klyde Warren, on the edge of downtown. This is a half-hour walk, a 5-minute drive.
From there you’re super-close to the artsy part of downtown. It hosts the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Winspear Opera House.
West Downtown has a little more of a western-y vibe, and you’ll find landmarks like the JFK Memorial Plaza and Reunion Tower.
On the other side of things, 10 minutes from the hotel, is Deep Ellum. It’s the hip, Brooklyn-y Dallas, all hip cafés and unique stores.
In the daytime, you’ll find candy stores, boutique shops, cafés and some nice barbecue joints.
Stay for some barbecue, then hit the bars. It’s one of the best areas in the city to enjoy a night out.
A little further out is the Bishop Arts district, 15 minutes from the hotel. It’s a revitalized old streetcar street, with theaters, bars and restaurants contained in a small, easily walkable area.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Love staying here. So comfortable and the staff is courteous and accommodating. Room size is great for 2 people to relax without being in each others way….”
“WE have stayed before and loved it. This time not as good. There were weddings there the weekend we were there so might have been too much for them to handle. Just wasn’t as good….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Slightly disappointed with the in room bar. Good snacks, wine, but bourbon/liquor choices were mid level. Would have been nice to have ice in the ice bucket upon arrival. Asked the porter to bring ice and it never arrived. Had to call and request it again. A small thing, but this is a premium property. We stayed at the Ritz Dallas two weeks ago, and there was ice waiting for us in the room. I do like the Mansion bar and live music better than the bar at the Ritz. Well done….”
”The bathroom was small and had to literaly squeeze into part of bathroom with the toilet. Restaurant was not as good as before….”
