Bend, Oregon is no stranger to outdoorsy tourism, and Tetherow has been specifically designed to accommodate all sorts of outdoor activity.
Situated next to an 18-hole golf course, the property is home to a number of areas suited for varying purposes, all with the main goal of letting people enjoy the Oregon countryside.
Everything is laid out as a series of cabins, with the biggest building devoted to guest rooms and suites.
They also feature long-term vacation rentals, but we’re not convinced we would want to spend months on what looks a bit too much like the set for a Dr. Who episode where human intrigue triggers an alien invasion.
The hotel, considered on its own, is a lovely display of hospitality. It gives ‘contemporary lodge,’ and it’s both a great base for exploring and a great hideaway to get some peace, quiet and relaxation.

Rooms are spacious yet cozy affairs, full of right angles in dark wood and leather and stone. They combine upscale design with a rustic flair, like they were designed by the daughter of Ron Swanson and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Rooms are King and Queen Singles and Queen Doubles, with a Junior Suite that can sleep up to six.
Everything is roomy, everything has decent views, it’s hard to go wrong.
The Cascade views are extra-special, and the Corner Rooms make for a little more light and space.
Whatever you choose, you’re looking at a wet bar, coffee and tea, HDTVs, and walk-in showers with plush robes.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Dining – The Row blends upscale and hearty pub fare.
- Casual option – Café in the sport building for breakfast/lunch.
- Wellness – Access to gym, sauna, steam room, and hot tubs.
- Pools – Indoor and outdoor heated pools with cabanas and fire pits.
- Extras – Discounted greens fees, shuttle to Bend’s Old Mill district.
You’re on a resort, and it’s obvious. The café in the sport building serves up hearty breakfasts and tasty lunches for a good casual option, but The Row is the main restaurant, for good reason.
Marketed as casual and comfortable, The Row walks the line between upscale (think disappointing portions with fantastic flavors) and pub fare (often greasy, but so satisfying) perfectly. Food is fresh, but filling, and super-tasty.
The Brunch is a don’t miss, with a large menu of classic entrées and lots of great morning cocktails that will send you to the Green with a smile on your face.
Hotel guests pay discounted greens fees, and access to Tetherow Sport, the complex’s superb athletic facilities, is included.
You’ll have to contact the hotel for information on private lessons, or sports massage services.
To be honest, we’d say the heated pool is good enough to be getting on with.
Those who want to see the sun and aren’t too fussed about laps, you can make your way to the outdoor hotel pool.
You’ll find cozy cabanas for rent, fire pits and a hot tub.
