This is a Downtown Cleveland boutique hotel from the legendary Kimptons, and a testament to the brand’s enduring legacy.
We usually try to prioritize hotels with a little more of an indie vibe, but it would be pretty preposterous to leave this one off our Cleveland lists.
We don’t need to say that the amenities are top-notch, but we will anyway. You’ve got your Frette linens, your in-room yoga mats, complimentary rental guitars, and loads more.
Of course, the building is a delight, a renovated landmark from famed Cleveland architect Levi Schofield.
The red brick is grand and stately, yet charming, only the slightest bit intimidating.
The interior is similar, a contemporary chic that lacks a little bit in the intimacy department, but there’s a graceful professionalism around that more than makes up for it.
If you like your luxuries and want to stay in a piece of Cleveland history, you’re not going to find a better spot.
What are the rooms like?
- 122 rooms across a range of categories
- Bright, cozy décor with plump furniture and prints
- Personal touch with optional plants and thoughtful details
- Suites feature the best views and a chic vibe
- See each room in detail here
Rooms are easy, friendly spaces with the typical whites, creams, and bright accents you’d expect.
There’s variety to the textiles, and a plump charm to the furniture that feels quite homey.
You can write before arrival for a hotel plant to be placed in the room, and clusters of prints above the beds do a lot of work making the space feel considered and cozy.
The gray curtains make things feel a bit heavy at times, in our opinion, but they’re perfect for those who like to sleep in.
Guest rooms start at King Singles and Queen Doubles, with Premium options and select rooms with exceptional views.
Suites have the best views, and a little more of a Miranda Priestley’s apartment kind of vibe.
They’re generally one-bedroom affairs, with the super-lux Presidential Suite ready for anyone with the disposable income.
Whatever you choose, the linens, bath amenities and robes will be the highest quality, ready to make your vacation a getaway to remember.

- Daily rituals include morning coffee/tea and evening wine hour
- Onsite dining at Betts with fresh, whole-food dishes
- Fitness center with quality equipment and hotel bikes
- Pet-friendly with a walking program available
Mealtimes are properly celebrated each day at Kimpton Schofield with a coffee & tea hour in the morning, and a wine hour in the evening.
The onsite restaurant is called Betts, open all day for guests and the public alike.
The menu features few surprises, but makes an effort to include many fresh elements to each plate in a whole-food approach to dining.
It makes for solid, delicious food that works for every meal and fits nicely into Cleveland’s whole, like, thing.
Other amenities and facilities are excellent, with a fitness center filled with brand-name equipment and hotel bikes for active guests.
There’s a pet walking program that you’ll want to set up with the front desk, but can help you have a truly relaxing vacation.

You’ll find a good number of event spaces; the Kimpton Schofield is literally next door to the Cleveland House of Blues.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is, in our opinion, a must-see for a visit. There’s nothing else like it, and if you like American music at all, you can learn a lot.
It’s a 20-minute walk to the lakefront, where you’ll find the Women’s Air and Space Museum, Great Lakes Science Center, and the Brown’s Huntington Bank Field.
Within a 10-minute drive you can get to University Circle, near the Case Western campus.
Here you’ll find one of the US’s best auto-boom-era art museums, The Cleveland Museum of Art.
It sits near the Museum of Natural History, the History Center and the Botanical Garden.
Grab lunch in Little Italy, and you can spend an afternoon in the seriously gorgeous Lakeview Cemetery.
You can find John Rockefeller’s final resting place, and the lovely memorial to assassinated President Garfield.
The city is absolutely stuffed with excellent dining options; check with the hotel staff for the best recommendations.
Nightlife is all around Kimpton Schofield, particularly in The Flats, a neighborhood within a half-hour’s walk.
Further afield, and for day life this time, Cedar Point is a destination for many, an hour from the hotel, and, if you want something closer to nature, head to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It’s a beautiful natural area just 20 minutes outside the city.
