TL;DR
- Design-forward B&B: with Victorian remodel and jungle-y landscaping
- Romantic luxury: modernized for contemporary tastes
- Elegant interiors: with creamy whites, soft corals, bright woods, and foamy greens
- Intimate property: small number of rooms encourages staying on-site

To call Wilmington’s Dreamers B&B design-forward would be an understatement, with every inch of the space perfectly calibrated to make your eye go “oh… my.”
The house itself is a Victorian remodel, surrounded by jungle-y landscaping that makes the space feel intimate and mysterious.
In our opinion, the interior perfectly encapsulates the romantic luxury of Victorian style, fully modernized for contemporary tastes.
Elegant furniture and dramatic decor are set against creamy white walls that complement the soft corals, bright woods and foamy greens beautifully.
We’ve gone beyond rich aunt, this is the space of a 40-something retired supermodel in a green card marriage with a Swedish architect.
The only downside we can come up with (besides the limited number of rooms…is this a downside?) is that you might spend all your time on the property and miss out on the city.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 5
- Unique styles: range from cozy 260 sq ft to bright 550+ sq ft suites
- Standard amenities: Smart TVs, plush robes, oil diffusers, blackout shades, bathtubs, rain showers
- Extra perks: Some rooms have fireplaces, daybeds, and kitchenettes
- See each room in detail here
Rooms have the same top-notch design as the common areas, though they vary greatly in size and style.
Each one is unique, ranging from a cozy 260 square feet to a bright, open 550+.
The smallest is a Queen Single decorated almost exclusively in white and light, cheerful woodwork.
There’s a small desk area and a chair to throw your jacket on, it’s quite a lovely spot for a solo traveler trying to get a smidge of work done.
If you’re looking for something a bit more glam, you’ve got intense color artist chic in the Visionary.
Perhaps the crowning jewel is the languorously sunny Dreamer Suite, which feels like it lives in the same world as Frankie Avalon’s Beauty School Dropout number from Grease.
But we digress. Ultimately, you’ve got Smart TVs, plush robes, oil diffusers, blackout shades, bathtubs and rain showers in every room.
And some will have fireplaces, daybeds, and kitchenettes.
What are prices like?
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Complimentary breakfast: light vegan breakfast served in garden or in-room
- Lunch and dinner: in-house chef prepares custom meals
- Wellness options: outdoor porch yoga classes, local studio passes, in-room massages
For a small house with a modest staff, a good amount is going on.
True to the B&B spirit, Dreamers offers a complimentary light vegan breakfast each morning, served in the breezy garden.
If you request the night before, they can also deliver it to your room.
It might not be hearty enough for everyone, at which point you can inquire about a larger breakfast delivery or head out to eat.
In our opinion, it’s just fine, and guests should save any custom requests for the excellent lunches and dinners, preprard by the in-house chef.
There’s a nice outside porch at DREAMERS, where they holds yoga classes. They’ve also got an arrangement with a local yoga studio for a super-affordable unlimited pass.
If that’s not quite enough zen for you, book an in-room massage for your stay.

The B&B is in the very heart of Wilmington, North Carolina, surrounded by historical sites, minutes from the river, and walking distance from any number of cool local joints.
The Riverwalk is a must, just a 10-minute walk from the property. You’ll pass the docks, a couple of little mini-parks, plenty of trees, and a collection of riverside restaurants, where you can enjoy a cocktail while the sun sets.
The entire downtown area is perfect just for wandering. There are plenty of architectural gems nearby, historic sites, and a few cool museums.
The Railroad Museum, for example, is a 20-minute walk, and has a lot of nice information about local history.
In the opposite direction, you’ll find Castle Street, where you can walk up and down until you see a cool café or restaurant to your liking.
There are plenty of options, all right next to each other. Other main attractions are driving distance.
On the east side of the peninsula, you’ll find plenty of natural areas like the New Hanover County Arboretum, Masonboro Island Reserve, or Carolina Beach. It’s roughly 25 minutes by car.
A little bit closer, still green, but less isolated, is Long Leaf Park, just a 15-minute drive.
There’s lots of activity space and a nice 1.5-mile walking trail.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”The room felt so luxurious and cozy at the same time. The queen room has high ceilings and even a fireplace! The room had plants and lamps that created such a nice cozy atmosphere. We loved the little breakfast in the parlor….”
”I have stayed in Wilmington 6 times in the past 4 months and Dreamers is in a class all to itself. The hospitality and the care that Ross and Anna put into making your stay perfect is exceptional and genuine. I felt they could sense what I needed before I knew I needed it. Add to that the beautiful and comfortable rooms and delicious vegan breakfasts. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Wilmington!…”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Slightly odd to have no human interaction….”
”Another point of disappointment was the breakfast. It was advertised as both vegetarian and vegan, but when we asked the staff on the first morning, we were told that only vegan options were available and that they did not serve vegetarian food. As a result, we couldn’t have breakfast there and had to look for another place….”
