This private accommodation outside Wilmington, North Carolina is a golfer’s dream and, particularly good for groups, with spacious suites and almost every room able to sleep 2+ people.
You definitely can just stay by the pool the whole time here, but in our opinion, it would be a little bit of a waste.
The views from the rooms are lovely, looking over the greens and the pool. Prepare to be coaxed outside by fresh air and green space every morning.
The 18-hole Beau Rivage golf course is one of the best in North Carolina, and there are plenty of other facilities too.
Prepare, though for a bunch of extra fees if you want to take advantage of them all.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 28
- Suite-style layout: with separate bedrooms and living areas
- Perfect for families: with King Singles and Full Doubles plus sofa beds
- Patios & balconies: overlooking the greens
- Functional decor: TVs, lots of seating, wet bars and fridge space
- Check out all the rooms in detail here
All rooms are quite large, prepared to house people who like a lot of space.
They’re all suite-style, with separate bedrooms and living areas. There are King Singles (with a sofa bed) and Full Doubles (also with a sofa bed).
This makes it perfect for families, with a bit of privacy for the parents and plenty of space to spread out in.
We love the patios and balconies looking out towards the green, a perfect touch for the open, breezy accommodation.
Decor is probably our least favorite part, with very little personality and a vibe bordering on dated. It is quite functional, however, and we think you’ll want to be outside for most of the day anyway.
Rooms have TVs and lots of seating options. Common areas should have wet bars and fridge space for you to use.
What are prices like?
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Restaurant & bar: Veranda Bar & Grill with large breakfast, lunch, dinner options
- Golf & recreation: 18-hole course, practice greens, pickleball courts
- Poolside amenities: outdoor pool with Tiki Bar
Without much going on nearby, the restaurant is important.
The Veranda Bar & Grill has a giant breakfast menu sure to please everyone, from avocado toast to cheesy, sausage-y grits.
For lunch and dinner, they serve up a selection of American classics. The burger list takes up half the menu, and there are plenty of salad options.
Simply put, it’s going to be hard to be disappointed.
But even if the restaurant is important, it’s not the reason you’re here.
The Championship course is an 18-hole area perfect for any golfer, complemented by a 10,000 square foot practice green and a chipping green.
Professional pickleball courts are perfect for the non-golfer, and the Pro Shop will help you beef out your gear bag.
The most egalitarian amenity, skill-wise, is the outdoor pool, complete with a poolside Tiki Bar where you can get a spritz while you sunbathe.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Away from downtown: but nice for exploring the peninsula
- Nearby nature: River Road Park (5 min), Carolina Beach (10 min)
- Organized outdoor spaces: New Hanover County Arboretum, Trails End Park, Masonboro Island Reserve
- Downtown Wilmington: 20-min drive, Riverwalk, museums, Castle Street dining
You’re definitely away from downtown Wilmington, but it’s a nice location if you want to get to know the peninsula.
There are plenty of outdoorsy spots within a short distance, like the 5-minute drive to River Road Park, or the 10 minutes to Carolina Beach.
More organized options include the New Hanover County Arboretum or Trails End Park, which looks out onto the Masonboro Island Reserve.
Or, take the 20 minutes to go directly downtown and check out the city center.
It’s incredibly walkable, with the Riverwalk, major museums and good restaurants all within a 20- or 30-minute stroll.
We’d recommend parking near the river, then bopping around the historical sites before heading to Castle Street for dinner or a beverage.
