Rooms range from Queen to King Singles at Guest House Raleigh, with a few lovely suites.
As often happens with historic properties, no two rooms are exactly the same, but we’re pretty confident you’ll be happy as long as you get your desired bed size.
Couples who like space might want to skip the 250 square foot Queen Rooms, but they’re plenty comfortable for a solo traveler or a honeymoon phase.
The Kings are around 290 square feet, and Suites start at 420. You’ll be able to spread out to your heart’s content among the plush sofas and patios.
There are many potted plants scattered around the property, and we especially love that they make their way into the guestrooms.
The rest of the decor is giving everything white you’ve ever seen in a West Elm catalog.
We do prefer a bit of color, but it’s coherent, and it looks stylish, so who are we to complain?
Whatever you choose at Guest House Raleigh, you’ll get lush linen bedding, Keurig machines, individual climate control, TVs, Bluetooth speakers and Marpac Dohm sound machines for the perfect sleep.

The parlor is one of the more historical spaces in the house, make sure to spend some time there if you want some good fireplace and wood beams time.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Central location: Prince Hall Historic District, walking distance to Downtown Raleigh attractions.

If you wanted to see Downtown Raleigh, Guest House Raleigh is the spot.
You’ll be walking distance to the Capitol Building, the Natural Science Museum, and the super-cultural Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
If you’re going for some good art, you’ll want to pop in a vehicle and head north to the North Carolina Museum of Art. It’s a 15-minute drive from the hotel.
The other best side of Raleigh is the outside time.
Even in Downtown, you’re not far from some pretty great outdoor activities. The John Chavis Memorial Park is a 10-minute walk, a community-focused space with some nice water features.
The Walnut Creek Wetland Center is a 5-minute drive, or a 30-minute walk for the more sprightly among us. The real magic, however, is the trails.
You can enjoy some time by the NCMA, but you’ll also be a 5-minute drive to Dix Park, which will eventually open up to walking trails around Raleigh Lake.
The 15-minute drive to Neuse River Trail is also definitely worth it for anyone who likes a good nature walk.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“We loved that House. Proximity to Downtown, quiet neighborhood , beautiful house with rich history, free parking, elegant decor, comfortable bedroom and bathroom, functional kitchen equipped with everything you need, simple healthy breakfast and good selection of coffee/tea, available shared space to enjoy and feel like at home. We felt as if the whole mansion was for us. Such a pleasure to live in a beautiful house even for a short time. If we were to come back to Raleigh we would definitely stay here. Touchless management was a plus for us, two introverts. With gratitude….”
“The guest house as a whole is beautifully decorated and everything functional and so well thought out. Loved the complimentary breakfast items and communal seating areas in the living, dining and patio. Never felt crowded despite the other rooms being occupied. The room was also extremely well equipped with everything I needed. The best guest house I’ve ever stayed at….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Responsiveness to my specific requests….”
”I liked everything, but I do believe it would be wonderful to have some bicycles to borrow so that guests can reach certain touristic sites without having to take their car….”
