This Downtown-adjacent boutique hotel charmer is dedicated to the softer side of Zelda Fitzgerald, who had a deep relationship with the city of Asheville.
It’s a boutique hotel with a nice balance of style and softness, and with a definitive zest for life.
They’ve pulled inspiration more from the romantic whirlwind of her and F. Scott’s early love, and anyone who has ever fallen for a poignant love story between two great artists will feel at home here.
It’s a multi-mansion property, offering lavish rooms and suites spread throughout three different buildings.
Interiors embody Golden-Age glamour with the southern charm and laid-back elegance you’ll have learned to expect from Asheville.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 20, spread across converted mansions.
- Unique layouts: No two rooms are alike, each with distinctive style.
- Range of comfort: From simple King Rooms to lavish executive and royal suites.
- Luxury touches: Mini-fridges, SMEG kettles, custom robes, and plush bathrooms.
- See all rooms in detail here on the booking page
As with many converted mansions, no two rooms are alike. We can assure you, however, that they are all worth a visit.
The smallest and simplest are the King Rooms, with the deluxe option offering seating areas.
Your most opulent is either the Darling Heart Executive or Paradise Royal Suite, with pullout couches, king beds, dining areas and and wraparound porches.
If you’re not married to the idea of a porch (say, if it’s Winter), we adore the Sundrop Suite’s solarium and views of the mountains.
Regardless of the choice of room, you’ll enjoy the best of bedding, mini-fridges, and SMEG kettles with coffee and tea options.
Bathrooms offer plush towels and customized robes and charming art-deco style decor over simple white tile.
Select rooms will offer charming additions like soaking tubs, library spaces, and chimney pieces. Every option has been treated with the same attention to detail and soft touch.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Breakfast included: Daily morning bites with a B&B feel.
- Guest-only bar: Wine & Roses Parlour Bar serves cocktails, wine, and local beer.
- Courtyard gathering: A communal space for relaxing and socializing.
- Classic drinks: Focus on well-crafted cocktails inspired by the Fitzgerald era.
- 24-hour front desk: Staff available any time.
It’s not a conventional hotel, so its features are more in the style of a B&B. You’ll find snacks available daily, as well as breakfast provided throughout your stay.
There is a nicely-arranged gathering place in the courtyard, and, the crowning glory: the Parlour Bar, also known as Wine & Roses. It’s exclusive to guests and offers a nice range of beverages.
The cocktails are primarily well-crafted classics, as the Fitzgeralds would have liked, and the beers are, what else, locally-sourced. A well-curated selection of wines rounds the menu out nicely.
The 24-hour front desk will be happy to assist with any other requests or necessities.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?

- Cultural highlights: Near Asheville Museum of History and the Art Museum.
- Performing arts: Close to venues like Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and Asheville Community Theatre.
- Brewery scene: Burial Beer Co. and many more spots nearby.
- Easy exploring: Downtown and West Asheville breweries within walking distance.
The location is spectacular, just outside of Downtown and overlooking Biltmore Avenue, and near the famed Biltmore Estate and its extensive grounds.
You’ll also be on the side of the Asheville Museum of History, a restored red-brick just outside of town, with Downtown’s Asheville Art Museum also an easy walk.
If your tastes lean towards the performing arts, there are a variety of venues nearby, including the big-name Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, the open-air Rabbit Rabbit, and the homegrown Asheville Community Theatre.
Brewery-hounds will be happy to know that the Burial Beer Co. taproom is around the corner.
You’re close enough to downtown that we recommend checking out more than a couple of breweries, especially those over in West Asheville.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”We upgraded to a suite, plenty of room, 3 thermostats so never hot or cold in any part of the suite. Nice bar, nice pastry breakfast with huge pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. Very friendly staff. Rooms renovated to modern fixtures, while the outside was 100+ years old. In the heart of the breweries too….”
”My most favorite hotel on my vacation. Wonderful hospitality and a gorgeous property. Everything was absolutely gorgeous, clean and worth every penny to stay at. Probably the only hotel I’ll stay at in Asheville in future visits back….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Coffee/Breakfast doesnt start until 830am. That’s a little late for the price point. 730am would be a more common start time. You have to pay to self park on site which seems unreasonable for the cost per night…..”
”We had some noise from a nearby bar on our first night (but it ended by 11:30 pm.) The hotel was happy to switch us to a different room for the rest of our stay that was quieter. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Would be nice to provide milk options for coffee other than half & half or Coffee Mate. But very minor complaints – really a wonderful play to stay…..”
