TL;DR
- Year-round access: One of the few Montauk boutique motels open March–December.
- Unpretentious style: Motel vibe balanced with inventive, well-curated design.
- Playful yet elegant: Quirky furniture and artwork mixed with refined woodworking.
- Off-season charm: Recommended for a quieter, more local Montauk experience.

This central Montauk boutique motel is open year-round. That is, it’s open March-December, which is pretty close for The Hamptons.
This gives this motel a little more local flavor, and gives you the chance for an off-season visit, our recommended time for a Montauk vacation.
We’re also big fans of the ‘yep, we’re a motel’ vibe. It’s unassuming without feeling gimmicky, and while it doesn’t look quite as glamorous the price might suggest, c’est la Hamptons.
It’s not like it’s a low-effort spot, either. Decor is quirky but still inventive and well-curated.
You’ve carved wooden hands for chairs, which are, to be fair, a lot, balanced with some truly elegant woodworking and original abstract artwork.
It manages the balance between sophistication and unpretentiousness pretty perfectly, in our opinion.
You can agree or not, probably depending on your feelings about giant inflatable ice cream cones, but we’d encourage anyone to give it a try.
What are the rooms like?
- 30 rooms: Motel-style, stacked around whitewashed buildings.
- Options: Queen, Queen Double, King, or Suites (some with patios/balconies).
- Decor: Stylish, beachy design with blue accents and elegant wood furniture.
- Amenities: Premium mattresses, HDTVs, tablets, minibars with local treats.

Motel-style rooms are lined up and stacked on top of each other around a cluster of shiny white buildings.
There’s a slight premium for rooms on the side of the sea, but with a road between the hotel and the dunes, we’re not convinced it’s worth it.
The big decisions are between Queen, Queen Double, King, or a Suite. There are ADA-compliant and Deluxe options for some, most Deluxe rooms including some sort of balcony.
Suites are just a few, one with a balcony, another with a patio, and another with three rooms just asking for a family to book it.
The decor is stylish and beachy, with lots of natural fibers, fun blue accents, and drool-worthy wood furniture.
Seriously, we’d recommend you bring an extra bag big enough for a carved nightstand, just promise you didn’t hear it from us.
They’re comfortable, too. You’ve got a premium mattresses and linens, HDTVs, specially curated artwork, interactive tablets, and (our favorite), some local goodies to sample at the mini-bar.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Breakfast: Simple complimentary continental; heavy eaters may want alternatives.
- Food options: Takeout or snacks enjoyed poolside, fireside, or in the sculpture garden.
- Drinks: Lobby bar, occasional complimentary wine.
- Wellness & leisure: Yoga, wine tastings, complimentary bikes.
- Beach access: Hotel helps organize beach essentials for guests.
Here’s the bad news. Breakfast is a very simple complimentary continental. If you’re a big eater in the morning, we’d recommend making other plans.
However, the staff knows this, and can help you finagle food service to the hotel. You can enjoy takeout or snacks from a local market either pool or fireside. Picnicking in the sculpture garden is our favorite hot tip.
The lobby bar is a nice spot for drinks, and they’ve been known to hand out cheeky glasses of wine on occasion.
You might not be quite spitting distance from the beach, but you’re not far from it. The hotel will help you organize everything you need for a day of sunny laziness.
If you want something more focused, there’s a schedule of wellness activities like yoga and wine tastings to check out. The more active guests will enjoy the complimentary bikes as well.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Close to the beach: Kirk Park Beach is just steps away.
- Easy biking: Complimentary bikes make Montauk and nearby sights accessible.
- Nearby attractions: Montauk Point, Block Island Ferry, Montauk Brewing Company, cafés, and shops.
- Hamptons access: Route 27 connects to East Hampton and ferries to Shelter Island, Greenport, Sag Harbor.
You are supremely close to Kirk Park Beach, so beach bums don’t have to fear.
Also, with the complimentary hotel bike situation, most of the island will be at your fingertips.
A half-hour ride will take you along the coast to Montauk Point, or head up towards the Block Island Ferry if you prefer boats.
Or, stay in town, walk the 10 minutes to the main plaza and snag a beer from Montauk Brewing Company. You’ll also be surrounded by cute cafés, restaurants, and boutique stores.
Or, head West towards East Hampton to have a more conventional Hamptons experience. Escaping back to the relative peace and quiet of Montauk will feel great.
Route 27 will get you almost anywhere you want to go, including the ferries between Greenport, Sag Harbor and Shelter Island.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Perfect location (not so close to all the other beach hotels, so you get more privacy and a peaceful beach). Beautiful rooms, good beach service & friendly staff. Very nice, quiet and clean hotel, I would say its definitely the best option in Montauk if you are looking to stay in a beachfront hotel….”
“Breakfast was amazing, grounds are well kept .. everything was very clean well maintained.. loved the staff !!! Loved the lobby for drinks at night and breakfast in the morning…will definitely stay again….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Had a rock band playing one night which disturbed sleep. Public was allowed to attend so parking for motel guests was limited that night. Noisy guest above us….”
”A little scary that no staff member is there overnight if there’s an issue….”
