This Lake Placid property is an excellent new addition to the Adirondacks’, and Upstate NY’s, boutique hotel collection.
It’s a chic, nature-forward accommodation from a trio of visionary friends that formed Eastwind Hotels.
The owners are frequently there to greet guests on arrival, either in Lake Placid or at one of their gorgeous Catskills hotels.
All locations share the same dark blue clapboard siding and simple roadside signage.
It’s a cute touch that solidifies the branding while making the group feel like a collection of homes rather than a hotel chain.
The Lake Placid campus is made up of a large main house that used to be a roadside inn and a herd of smaller buildings in the backyard.
Beyond this, you’ll find the sweet Chubb River (visible from select cabins) and a walking and hiking area.
Everything is newly built and well-designed. As a hotel, Eastwind feels very genuine, a welcoming space from a down-to-earth group of people with good taste.

And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The staff was incredibly friendly. The room was gorgeous and the hotel is a short walk into town. It might be further from town than other hotels, but it’s well worth it. This is a peaceful and romantic getaway!!….”
“Location worked out well for my trip. This “hotel” is actually a complex of 4-5 houses on a single lot which have been divided into individual rooms. Very nice; I hadn’t realized I’d booked a “double queen” until I checked in and I enjoyed the extra space. Good bathroom and shower, and lots of nice books to read on the shelves. The attached deck out back looked great but it was a bit too chilly to use this trip. They have a nightly fire in the fire pit if you’re feeling sociable….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”A bit of a walk to the closest restaurants, but not terrible. No restaurant on-site, but you can pre-order a “breakfast basket” though I didn’t try it. Gravel parking lot a bit treacherous on a motorcycle…..”
”It is a walk into town. We didn’t mind the walk but might be too much for others….”
