With a gourmet kitchen and working farm on site, the resort offers plenty of opportunities to experience country life.

How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Remote & peaceful: Gardiner is 30 min from Poughkeepsie, away from highway and train noise.
- Nearby towns: Hudson, NY (1 hour) and Beacon (30 min) with art centers and cultural spots.
- Nature excursions: Minnewaska State Park Preserve for waterfalls, biking, and climbing.
About half an hour from Poughkeepsie, Gardiner is pretty solidly in the middle of nowhere.
Many New York Escapes end up near the highway bustle or riverside train noise, but when Wildflower Farms says peaceful, they mean it.
An hour north you’ll find the train-side town of Hudson, NY, and a small community of New York City emigrants making a cute downtown along Warren Street.
Head southeast for half an hour to check out the artsy magic of Beacon, featuring both the Dia Beacon and Storm King Art Centers.
Otherwise, just drive to Minnewaska State Park Preserve for some waterfalls, some mountain biking, climbing, and more.
Unsurprisingly, most of these activities can be organized with the hotel.
