TL;DR
- Secluded setting: in Jackson, NH, tucked away yet close to town.
- Luxury comfort: with fireplaces, antique armchairs, and wine cellar.
- Quirky architecture: mixing historic mansion with nouveau riche style.

There’s no shortage of stately house-hotels in the Whites, so we want you to know that we mean it when we give this Jackson, NH luxury boutique inn a top spot.
It’s tucked off a rural street on the edges of downtown Jackson, which is pretty secluded all on its own. Getting there is part homecoming, part adventure.
There’s not nearly enough town to get lost in, but the roads seem full of promises, and so does the inn.
The small mansion is filled to the brim with creature comforts, from cloud-like beds to gas fireplaces to antique armchairs where you can enjoy a glass of red from the wine cellar. The service is excellent and often goes above-and-beyond.
The architecture is a bit suspect, giving gorgeous historic manse from faraway and morphing into something much more nouveau riche up close.
However, if a rogue 20th century octagonal turret is the price we have to pay for the plush experience inside, we’ll happily manage.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 19 across suites, cottages, and a carriage house.
- Variety of styles: from mountain-view suites to cozy multi-fireplace rooms.
- Standard comforts: like TVs, robes, slippers, seating, and essentials.
- Extra touches: with fireplaces, wet bars, and unique décor.
- See each room in detail here
You’ve got guest rooms, suites, cottages, and a carriage house. Unless you’re a large party of some kind, the carriage house is a little extra, but hey, we won’t judge.
Rooms and Suites are predominantly named for nearby outdoor spots. Some, like the Madison, offer incredible views.
Others, like the Tuckerman Suite, are all about the coziness, sporting multiple fireplaces.
Each one will be a bit different, but all rooms include TVs, robes, slippers, seating, and necessities like hair dryers and irons.
The presence of fireplaces, wet bars, and sofas varies throughout.
You can’t really go wrong, though. Everything has been thought out, and while the decor isn’t revolutionary, the brocade comforters and striped bathroom wallpaper add a nice flair.
What are prices like?
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Made-to-order breakfast: with both included and premium options.
- Hearty dinners: with locally sourced ingredients and surf & turf focus.
- Spa treatments: including massages, Reiki, and Tai Chi.
- Special experiences: like whiskey tastings, wine cellar dinners, and charcuterie boards.
Breakfast is made to order, with roughly half of the menu included in the room rate. We like this strategy, as it allows for adventurous spenders to try something different (lobster benedict, anyone?).
Even if you keep it simple, it’s expertly prepared and sure to start your day off well.
After your adventuring, or relaxing, you can return to the inn for dinner. We’re looking at locally-sourced ingredients making up all the classics.
A surf and turf menu is a great option for the carnivores, and while the vegetarian and vegan options are limited, there is more than just the caprese.
And then there’s the spa. Start with an extensive massage menu and from there you can enjoy alternative medicine treatments and practices like Reiki and Tai Chi.
There are many experiences that the Inn will be happy to organize, from a whiskey tasting to a full wine cellar dinner to an afternoon charcuterie board. Whatever your style, they’ll figure out how to cater to it.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Scenic location: on the east side of the White Mountains.
- Local charm: with Jackson’s small downtown and library.
- Family fun: at nearby Storyland and Saco River swimming holes.
- Outdoor access: to Wildcat and Black Mountain for skiing and trails.
- Day trips: to Conway or the Kancamagus Highway for dining and drives.
This is the east side of the Presidentials and many of the Whites. Downtown Jackson has a few cute spots (the library!), and you’re spitting distance from Route 16. It’s the quickest route to the area’s best activities.
You don’t have to go in, but a stop to check out nearby Storyland is a must, as well as a jump in one of the many swimming holes on the mighty Saco River.
Head north for super easy access to at least half of New Hampshire’s most lauded ski resorts. Wildcat Mountain is an easy option, while Black Mountain is summer-ready, with a network of horse trails as well as ski slopes.
If you want a night on the town, Conway is less than half an hour, with a handful of eateries, one cocktail bar, and small community theater.
It’s also the turnoff to the famous Kancamangus Highway, 34-miles of idyllic driving that’ll bring you through the mountains towards Lincoln, NH and the western side of the ranges.
