If you love the quaintness of the Whites but want a little walkability, this Main Street, Bethlehem boutique inn is the perfect spot.
Set cutely on the side of Maplewood Ave that leads out of town, the inn is a stylishly renovated 1908 number.
It features a spectacular windowed porch, turret-like features that don’t seem as tacky as usual, and a gorgeous stone foundation.
It was all built in 1908 by the same architect as the local fancy hotel the Omni Mount Washington.
The larger hotel is iconic, we won’t lie, but we tend to prefer 7-unit chic boutiques to the multi-hundred-room giants, no matter how comfortable they’d look in a Wes Anderson film.
Those who feel the same can join us at the Mulburn for a little bit more intimacy and a thorough pampering.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 7, each reflecting the inn’s historic character
- Eclectic decor: from Art Deco to stained glass and grand pianos
- Cozy comfort: with climate control, fresh linens, and armchairs
- Charming bathrooms: colorful, quaint, and homely
- See each room in detail here
It’s a cozy spot with only a few options, each different, reflecting the historical nature of the space. The decor runs through the decades, not fully invested in anyone time period, but with an eye for detail.
You’ll find Art Deco lights, elegant grand pianos, stained-glass windows, and more.
It gives a homey kind of sophistication, relaxed by the occasional taxidermied deer in a Santa hat (seasonally, of course).
Rooms are notably comfortable, fitted out with climate control, lovely fresh linens, cush armchairs, and wardrobes.
Bathrooms are cute and charming a la your aunt’s guestroom, with colorful fixtures and soft textiles.

How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Village setting: on Bethlehem’s charming Main Street
- Local flavor: with cafés, breweries, and small-town eateries
- Nearby Littleton: offers more dining, art galleries, and breweries
- Outdoor access: to Franconia Notch hikes and ski resorts nearby
Bethlehem is a sweet village tucked among the mountains, basically a single main road flanked by the town’s best and brightest.
The small selection of cute buildings houses a visitor’s center that includes a historical society, and a host of other small businesses.
Grab a cup of joe and the latest small-town gossip at Maia Papaya, or lunch at one of the many cute neo-American joints on Main Street.
Just around the corner is the Rek-Lis Brewery’s pint house, a charmingly lit spot to stop by for a beer. Their Brew Pub is close by if you’re feelingn (only slightly) more formal.
You’ll also have the slightly-bigger Littleton within a 10-minute drive. There, we’re looking at multiple breweries, cafés, restaurants and art galleries.
Franconia Notch State Park is less than half an hour, not far from Mounts Moosilauke and Lafayette. They’re all great hikes for anyone even a little adventurous.
Anyone wanting to ski can find Cannon Mountain just down route 93. Loon and Bretton Woods are within half an hour, with Nordic options available at the latter.
