This stunning Art Deco hotel in the center of Downtown Omaha is perfect for an old-fashioned, glamorous stay in the Gateway to the West.
The aptly-named building hails from 1930, all towering stacks of golden brick and lovely stonework.
It’s super-central, a stone’s throw from the Orpheum Theater, where you can see everything from comedy to musicals to local theater greats.
The vibe of the hotel is old luxury. They’ve hit a nice balance between the bland elegance of business travel and the bold lines of 20th-century chic.
The result is a sleek, stylish interior that is just as well-suited to schmoozing clients as it is to grabbing cocktails with your hip cousin who wears heels to breakfast and is a bit hard to please.

They’re pretty bare though, mostly white and gray, with some patterned wallpaper that gives a little bit of atmosphere.
Once you get up to the suites, the decor gets a bit more varied, and it’s a sophisticated cool that works well with the rest of the hotel.
They also have seating areas, dining areas, gorgeous vanities and just a lot more personality than the other rooms.
Wherever you stay though, room or suite, you’ll find Nespresso machines, working areas, mini fridges, and HDTVs.

The Monarch Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner onsite. The space is nicely put-together, intimate, and just a bit sultry.
The cuisine is contemporary American, featuring various takes on classics like a balsamic-y avocado toast or a gorgeous sundried tomato gnocchi.
Common areas are dark and a bit mysterious, with nice pops of color.
There are plenty of event spaces, from wedding-ready sunny foyers to private spaces for business meetings.
They also have a small but decent fitness center, but other than that, there’s not much in the way of facilities.
If, however, a stylish, comfy room and a stylish, cute restaurant seem like enough to be getting on with, you’ll be well satisfied.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Nearby: Theaters, museums, and cultural spaces within walking distance.
- Riverfront: Farnam Pier and surrounding attractions for walking and picnics.
- Shopping: Old Market area five minutes away with shops and dining.
- Zoo: Less than 10 minutes by car, plus other nearby neighborhoods for exploration.
The location is good. The theater’s not the only nearby attraction, there are plenty of other cultural spaces within walking distance.
The Children’s Museum, Art Museum, and the youthful Rose Theater are all about 10 minutes towards the western side of the city.
If you’d rather head towards the river (we like this idea), Farnam Pier is a 20-minute walk.
It’s a cool little bridge structure next to a cute park, and you can explore the rest of the riverfront easily from here.
That includes the Old Metz Brewery and the Kiewit Luminarium, as well as a nice stretch of riverfront great for walks and picnics and all your outdoor needs.
The area around Old Market is a great place to wander, and just five minutes away. You can shop, eat, meet people, whatever you need.
The famed Zoo is less than 10 minutes by car, and there are plenty of other nice neighborhoods to check out if you have a set of wheels.
