And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Rec Pier Chop House for Italian, steak, and seafood
- Cannon Room whiskey bar with Sagamore Rye
- Poolside bar and grill for waterfront lounging
- Fitness center open 24 hours
- In-room massages for relaxation
- Outdoor pool overlooking the harbor
While getting out into the neighborhood is a must, staying at the hotel for dinner and drinks will not disappoint.
The Rec Pier Chop House and the Cannon Room are both part of Rec Pier and the hotel, with an additional poolside bar and grill perfect for water junkies.
The Chop House is an Italian joint that knows its meat, but also offers up some excellent seafood and sides.
It also provides some excellent American breakfast options in the morning.
The Cannon Room is a whiskey bar with a selection dreams are made of. Its headliner, very appropriately, is Sagamore Rye.
They’ll mix you a delightful version of any classic whiskey cocktail with a perfectly chosen variety from the local distillery.
For some extra movement, you’ll enjoy the 24-hour fitness center. For some extra relaxation, there are in-room massages and, of course, the stunning pool.
It’s set on the edge of the pier, only a few meters from the Patapsco, and panoramic views of the city and the water.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Fell’s Point known for restaurants, nightlife, and views
- Thames Street full of lively bars and cafes
- History tied to Frederick Douglass and Billie Holiday
- Cultural spots like Poe’s last known haunt
- Walkable harbor with Federal Hill and parks nearby
The Fell’s Point waterfront is one of the most beautiful areas of the city, famous for fantastic restaurants, top-notch nightlife, and stunning views.
As much as we love an evening at the Cannon Room, we do recommend a few nights out to get a taste of what the area has to offer.
Simply stroll down Thames Street, and you’ll find whatever you need. There’s high-end, relaxed, live music, or divey, and most spots will have outdoor seating.
Make sure to head out early enough to watch the sun set over Federal Hill.
In the daytime, enjoy the extensive history of the neighborhood, home to Frederick Douglass and Billie Holiday.
You can also visit the last place where Edgar Allen Poe was last seen alive, if you believe the rumors.
When you’re ready to see the rest of Baltimore, we recommend subjecting your feet to at least one stroll around the harbor to the very same hill.
There are some fantastic parks and if you’re really feeling adventurous you can continue your walk towards the center.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”This is a stunningly beautiful hotel in an incredible location. The restaurant is outstanding. We ate there twice. The area is so lovely. There is an 108 year old theater company within walking distance. The hotel is surrounded by lovely shops and wonderful restaurants especially Twist on Broadway….”
”Exceptional hotel. Everything is superb, it is pricey but well worthy. Highly recommend it…”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Pool closed too early. The only bar opened after 10pm is tiny in a small room and way over heated every night. The “whiskey bar” is cute but should not be the only option after 10pm. It’s claustrophobic in there and hot. You can’t take food out of the room either. Service was great though and drinks were good….”
”Being charged $7 for using an espresso pod of coffee in the room! What luxury hotel brand charges for using a coffee machine in a room?…”
