Acquired in 2024 for Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, Maison Metier is nestled Downtown among a slew of New Orleans’ best hotels.
Formerly Maison de la Luz, we see that the changeover has done nothing to lessen the former’s historic charm.
The refurbished warehouse has retained the opulent, French-inspired design. Gallery walls of contemporary, traditional and international art stretch above soft, custard-colored seating.
Leaf-patterned Beaux-Arts staircases then lead you to the rooms.
Maison Metier is a good place to dip a toe into New Orleans’ opulent side but also to appreciate some of the city’s other sides too.
Its neighborhood is the 19th-century era Warehouse District, now a hotbed of arts, culture and condos.
You’ll find some of the city’s best galleries, restaurants and boutique shops among its pretty streets.
All aspects of the city are on your doorstep here – from the infamous French Quarter to its polar opposite, the Central Business District, and all of the grandiose architectures of Uptown and the Garden District.

And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”Ideally located for exploring the touristy parts (French quarter) of New Orleans. Spacious hotel rooms, great turn-of-the-century building, very friendly staff, really cool bar with live music!….”
”Lovely staff at the reception and at the restaurant. Beautiful design throughout. It’s within 20 min walk from the French Quarter which proved to be perfect – as the Bourbon St area is way too rowdy to stay at….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The water pressure for the shower was very low at times & we had to keep fixing the toilet float. I’m not sure what the staff could have done about the shower pressure, but i know if we had called down about the toilet they would have fixed it or given us a different room… they were amazing…..”
”It would be great if there was a tiny business center or even a computer for guests to use for an hour. Also a hotel shuttle to the French quarter even twice a day….”
