This boutique addition to Ash Hotels’ cadre of design-forward renovations encapsulates the hotelier’s uncanny ability to make history feel alive, and somehow exquisite.
Comparisons to Wes Anderson are overused, we know, but the “Catholic boarding school with upscale bar menus” aesthetic feels like that kind of hipster theatrical.
This movie-set church school experience is a treasure of meticulous detail to make your vacation auteur film-worthy.
A historic Rectory, Convent, and School House make up the property, having gone through extensive renovations.
Today, each building offers luxury accommodation. Charming common areas, shops and bars are tucked into the corners.

Textiles are soft ivories and muted ginghams that lend a sophisticated vintage feel, supported by genuine antiques throughout the three buildings. There’s a perfect balance of elegance and homeliness.
The Rectory is luxurious reds with soft florals, canopy beds and marble in the bathrooms. Most rooms are intimate Queens, with one spacious King room that includes a limestone soaking tub.
The convent is the place of repose. The sleek blue curtains, tasseled canopies, and friendly gingham couches invite relaxation.

Marigny, a gentrified Creole neighborhood on the outskirts of the famed French Quarter, is a creative powerhouse.
It’s the top spot for musical nightlife, where you just start with a stroll down Frenchmen Street and see where the night takes you.
In the daytime, you’ll be walking distance from the New Orleans Jazz Museum and the market-like Colonnade shops.
The Crescent Park Trail makes a fantastic daytime stroll, especially if you stop for a spritz in the arty, boozy Bywater.
You can also catch the waterfront tram from the French Market station into the heart of the city. If you need a break from the party, head north to towards Lake Ponchartrain to catch the New Orleans Museum of Art and the peaceful City Park.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”Beautiful renovated church in a great part of the city! The property is beautiful and well maintained, the staff was all super friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be staying here again next time we come to town. Loved that there was private parking and the onsite cafe and restaurant were wonderful…..”
”Wonderful place to stay in Nola – beautiful, interesting, quiet, caring staff and so on 🙂 Recommend to have breakfast at the Elysian bar next doors. Was very good!….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Housekeeping knocking on the door at 9 am and especially on my checkout day when the checkout time is 11 am. When people are on vacation, they want rest. In NOLA, people are up late. It’s not cool to have a housekeeping check at 9 am in this particular city but maybe ever. Housekeeping should be given a list of those rooms checking out and not knock on that room until the front desk informs them that the guest has checked out. I used to work in a hotel and know that can be done. :)….”
”The mattress in the first room wasn’t comfortable at all, but your staff switched up to another room with no problem…..”
