TL;DR
- Historic charm: 1888 mansion with Wes Anderson–style retro design.
- Fresh concept: Part hotel, part private club, part resort.
- Exclusive vibe: Contemporary luxury with Savannah’s private-party spirit.
- Unique setting: Across from Forsyth Park, away from riverside bustle.

Savannah is, of course, the dream for those who like historic buildings with a little bit of ghost to them, but head to Forsyth Park and we get to see something just a little different.
From the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed new hospitality brand Bardo, this boutique hotel is part accommodation, part private club, part resort.
It’s a nice addition to the local hotel scene, feeling very Savannah in its private club, contemporary luxury niche.
In a city known for private parties dripping in exclusivity, this for us feels like an updated take.
It helps that it occupies a giant 1888 mansion, with a retro decor that feels like the retro decor of someone who had never seen the past in anything but Wes Anderson films.
It’s like a 2024 version of Jim William’s Armstrong House. Let’s hope it lasts much longer and stays murder-free.

It’s the spot for your morning coffee and then for some mouth-watering straight-forward yet creative cocktails alongside chic Italian bar bites.
Saint Bibiana is real crown jewel, a perfect spot for an Italian dinner or a Mediterranean-inspired brunch.
It’s sister Bar Bibi, is the poolside casual place for a light lunch, some tasty drinks, or maybe a late-afternoon pizza.
It’s perched on more of the captivating green and white tile that surrounds the hotel pool, a place to be seen as much as to swim.
Cabanas beckon the leisurely, while the water, courtyard and lawn invite the more adventurous.

How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Forsyth Park: Leafy, lively atmosphere with picnickers and families.
- Walkable city: Easy stroll to SCAD campus, museums, and Historic District.
- Riverfront: 30-minute walk to River Street for shopping, dining, nightlife.
- Day trips: Bonaventure Cemetery a short ride away by bike or car.
Hotel Bardo faces Forsyth Park in the center of Savannah, nicely removed from the city’s riverside partiers.
We think it makes for a relaxing atmosphere, though the hotel has undeniable social undertones and the park is lively with picnickers, spikeballers and families.
Ultimately, it’s Savannah, and nothing is very far away. Almost all parts of the SCAD campus are an easy walk, including those in the Historic District, where you’ll see the State Railroad Museum, the SCAD Art Museum, historic houses, and more.
It’s a 30-minute walk to River Street, where you can watch the spring breakers or, if you come at a calmer time, shop along the riverfront or enjoy a drink or snack at one of the many riverside restaurants.
The famous Bonaventure Cemetery is a little further, but still an easy ride by bike or car. By being this central we think you won’t miss out on much in Savannah.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
”Loved our stay at the Bardo Hotel. It is beautifully decorated with spacious rooms. The pool and poolbar have a relaxing vibe. I particularly loved the fact that the gym has it’s own stretching room. The restaurant next door serves delicious dishes and the private club is such a grandeur space. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay special….”
”Hotel Bardo is drop dead gorgeous. Staff was so welcoming on arrival, and I’m still dying over the decor throughout the property. We were so thankful we chose this location versus staying down by the water. The hotel is directly across from Forsyth Park and a really lovely walk from all the shops and restaurants. We never got in the car again after checking in, and just chose to walk everywhere for the two days we were in town!…”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”No shelf space in the beautiful bedroom. Music by the pool was very loud but when asked , it was turned down. ‘Breakfast’ was included in our package- hot drinks, pastries, fruit. Anything more extensive was charged…”
”The only thing I would change is the bathrooms. Which were a bit outdated. Not dirt or bad in any sense but it just didn’t make justice to the rest of the accommodation…..”
