This picture-perfect hotel on the lagoon side of Palm Beach is the sister boutique to Nantucket’s gem of the same name, bringing New England style chic to Florida.
They’ve whitewashed one of the area’s typical Mediterranean revival buildings and added enough black and white stripes to make a zebra blush.
In all seriousness, though, it works beautifully.
An interior full of lush houseplants and unique furnishings in a range of neutral tones and soft colors gives the black and white a cat-in-the-hat kind of charm rather than a Cruella DeVille-esque severity.
This all means that the hotel straddles the line between super-stylish and snobby perfectly.
There’s something unique about it that nevertheless fits perfectly into this posh, beachy neighborhood.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 32
- Room types: King Singles, Queen Doubles, 1-3 bedroom suites, some with balconies or rooftop access
- Style: Neutral interiors with soft colors, black-and-white exterior accents, nautical touches in suites
- Amenities: TV, seating, mini fridge, Nespresso, robes, complimentary newspapers; sofa beds in suites

The property features both rooms and suites.
Rooms include King Singles and Queen Doubles. Some Kings have accessibility features, others have private balconies, and they’re all pretty swanky.
Just like the rest of the hotel, everything inside is a subtle sort of neutral gray, accented with soft colors on the walls and room textiles.
The outside (in the case of the balconies) are the same dedicated black and white motif, a bold kind of modern tempered by the milder interiors.
Suites are similar, though they’ve gone a little harder on the chic of the inside. There’s more of the beach-babe whites and beiges, and even a nautical touch or two.
Rooms all feature TVs, seating, mini fridges, Nespresso machines, robes, and complimentary newspapers.
Suites range from one bedrooms to a giant 3-bedroom on the rooftop, all with sofa beds to sleep any number from 4-10

- Restaurant: Lola 41, seafood-focused, inventive specials, poolside service
- Breakfast: Complimentary buffet spread with tea and coffee
- Afternoon: Wine and cheese house for socializing
- Facilities: Fitness center, Cove Club beach access for suite guests, small retail space
If there’s one thing Massachusetts and Florida have in common, it’s seafood.
Lola 41, the Nantucket White Elephant’s award-winning restaurant, celebrates this connection with its second location.
And it’s not just limited to the fish. The restaurant is known for inventive specials and has a variety of delicacies for all palettes.
The space is sultry and welcoming, the perfect place for a cocktail and some superb dining.
You’ll also be able to order some of these snacks poolside, when you’re under the black and white striped umbrellas on your black and white loungers.
For breakfast, you’ll have a (first-come first-serve!) complimentary spread of pastries, tea and coffee.
Afternoon welcomes wine and cheese house, where you can socialize with other guests or just do your own thing.
If you’d rather move than eat, there’s a fitness center on site.
Suite-based guests also have complimentary access and transportation to the super cool and super exclusive beachside Cove Club. Those in rooms can purchase a discounted day pass.
If you’d rather shop than do any of these things, there’s a small retail space where you can grab some of the hotel’s world-class amenities to enjoy at home.
How is the location? Anything interesting nearby?
- Beach: Under 10 minutes to Sunset Ave Beach Access; lagoon-side paths and small park
- Nearby attractions: Worth Ave, Flagler Museum, Society of the Four Arts, West Palm Beach Cityplace, Raymond F. Kravis Center, Norton Museum of Art
- Vibe: Between beach and city, relaxed and accessible
We love the location here, between the beach and the city.
Some might say the White Elephant is on the ‘wrong’ side of Palm Beach, but we disagree.
It’s under 10 minutes to get to the Sunset Ave Beach Access, and the proximity to the paths along the lagoon is perfection.
The only thing between the hotel and the waterfront is a small, green park.
Worth Ave, the main bustle of the area, is a mite far when the weather is hot, but on the way, you’ll pass both the Flagler Museum and the Society of the Four Arts.
You could also easily drive there in less than 10 minutes.
Getting to West Palm Beach for some ‘inner city’ time is simple as well. The bars and restaurants of Cityplace are just a 10-minute drive.
Near there, you’ll find the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, or you can head a bit further in to check out the Norton Museum of Art.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Fantastic location just a few blocks from the beach (The White Elephant also provides free transportation to and from the beach, not to mention complimentary luxury cars you can check out). This is one of my favorite hotels on Palm Beach and is definitely my favorite boutique hotel on the island….”
“It was a great experience, everything was perfect. The staff were exceptional. My wife and I are looking forward to doing it again….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Just few rooms with balcony….”
