TL;DR
- Style: Classic Florida beach lodge with casual pre-millennial charm.
- Decor: Casual, dated but comfortable with heavy beams and corners.
- Amenities: Top-notch service and beach access.
- Views: Picture-perfect ocean views from all rooms.

The Lodge & Club Ponte Vedra, near Jacksonville, debuted in 1989, and it definitely looks it —a sprawling testament to pre-millennial mall architecture.
The vibe is thus, on the edge of dated, with heavy beams and lots of corners.
Decor is on the casual side, and some time away from the glitzy marble and brass of Florida opulence is a nice change.
It does, however, add to the mall atmosphere just a smidge.
We’d say most of the charm lies in the hotel’s many amenities, excellent service and, of course, the beach.
All these elements are top-notch, with picture-perfect views from all the rooms and easy access to the sandy shores of the Atlantic.
What are the rooms like?
- Number of rooms: 66
- Size & View: Oversized, breezy rooms with ocean views, balconies or terraces.
- Decor: Simple and green-themed, natural furnishings, some awkward large wardrobes.
- Room Types: Oceanfront/Oceanview King Singles or Queen Doubles, suites with fireplaces, terraces, and sleeper sofas.

Rooms are oversized, breezy, and have some of the best views in the area.
Most have balconies or terraces, meaning you can watch the ocean and breathe the fresh air from the privacy of your own room.
The decor is uninspiring, but cute in its own way. There’s lots of green throughout, a kind of glowy sea-green that works quite well.
Furnishings have a natural feel to them, except the large black wardrobes that, in our opinion, feel a bit out of place.
They are great for holding your clothes, though, and with every room type prepared to sleep up to 5, you might need the closet space.
Oceanfront and Oceanview rooms come in King Singles or Queen Doubles, with window seats, balconies, and soaking tubs.
If it’s just you or you and your honey, check out the Preferred Oceanfront Rooms, King Singles with fireplaces and a breakfast nook that looks like it was ripped from your aunt’s suburban mini-mansion in 2005.
Suites are even grander, with king rooms and sleeper sofas.
Many have fireplaces, some have terraces, all have balconies. We’d venture to say that they’re not necessarily worth it unless you really love separated rooms.
The rooms are just as charming and plenty big, in our opinion.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Facilities: Access to sister property amenities including golf, spa, tennis, fitness center.
- Pools: Adults-only heated pool with Jacuzzi and kid-friendly pool with splash park.
- Dining: Three onsite restaurants: Sea View Grille, Oasis bistro, and Sea View Lounge.
- Beach: Quick Atlantic access with rentals available from front desk.
The Lodge & Club is a sister property to another, less intimate, local offering, the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club.
So, with the cozy feel of a sub-100 key hotel, you get to use the facilities and amenities of the area’s grandest resort.
This includes free shuttle service to 36 golf holes, a full-service spa, tennis courts, a fitness center, and more. You can thank us after the massage.
You don’t even have to think about leaving the property; however, if all you want is water access and incredible food.
There are three onsite dining options, excluding room service. The Sea View Grille, housed in a rather odd dome-like dining space, offers American classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Oasis is our personal favorite, a bistro-style joint with gorgeous outdoor seating.
The Sea View lounge is the place for casual martinis, an unassuming but sophisticated spot next to the main dining area.
Once you’re ready to get in the water, you can access the Atlantic in no time.
If you prefer the non-salty variety, there’s a kid-friendly pool with a splash park, and an adults-only heated pool complete with a Jacuzzi at the hotel.
Check with the front desk for any beach rental you can imagine, from cruisers to paddleboards.

Ponte Vedra is a Florida beach, through and through.
It’s the spot for relaxing, walking on the sand and hanging in the sea.
It really is the best place if your main priority is to stay on the sand or by the pool.
It’s not devoid of attractions, but you’ll want to drive to most of them.
Jacksonville Beach, which has a downtown area, lots of restaurants, and even a few cultural offerings, is a 10-minute drive.
They’ve got a Beaches Museum, and some outdoor event venues.
If you want more, head all the way into Jacksonville proper, a half-hour drive. You’ll find some cute riverside spaces, a nice selection of art museums, theaters, and more.
For some land-based nature, all you have to do is head north.
Within an hour, you’ll find national forests, wildlife preserves, and state parks that showcase the state’s outstanding natural beauty.
