A classic boutique hotel in Central Beach, Fort Lauderdale, The Kimpton Shorebreak is all the contemporary beachy chic you need.
Fort Lauderdale has plenty of quirky charm, but around here, the vibe is much more white walls and big windows.
Which is why we opt for the classics. Kimpton is a boutique brand with enough name recognition and experience to start a million beachside resorts.
And better still, you’ll probably love them all.
Thus, the takeover of this 1949 hotel has yielded one of the most comfortable, relaxing, and stylish hotels in the area.
You can expect all the luxuries associated with the name, but at very reasonable prices, plus lots of local charm.
The building has the facade of a mall where only Cindy Crawford is allowed to shop. It opens up to stacks of breezy stacks of rooms, and multiple pools.
We sometimes hesitate to include chains, but there’s something so classically Florida chic about this hotel, we barely had to think once.

And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“We only ate breakfast there once but it was very good. The staff was exceptionally friendly, from check-in to any and all service staff. Always smiling and always said hello. Everything was very clean. We didn’t use the lower pool but the rooftop pool area was fabulous! We used it often. Bar staff were very friendly. Our room was very clean and spacious. Housekeeping came by daily and took any trash, replaced towels and remade the beds. The beds were a bit soft, but I like to cozy-up, so that was fine with me. P.S. Use Ride Circuit when you need to get around Ft. Lauderdale-they’re free!!..”
“We recently stayed at the Kimpton Shorebreak in Fort Lauderdale and were genuinely impressed. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Every interaction, from the front desk to the rooftop bar, was friendly, professional, and personal. The rooftop pool and bar are the real showstoppers. The views of the Intracoastal Waterway are stunning, especially at sunset. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a cocktail after a day at the beach….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The flooring in our room was a bit rough. I think it was parquet and it seems like it has been damp at one time as some of the planks were loose and curled up a bit. Not a huge issue, but hopefully they will look into it. We were in 119. Also, there were no facilities to do laundry. I think this is a huge need since they are so close to the beach….”
”If I had to note one area for improvement, it would be the room soundproofing. While the hotel itself is quiet, I could occasionally hear hallway noise or doors closing nearby….”
