We’ll admit we’re suckers for bold typography on the sides of buildings, but that’s far from the only appeal of this Silver Lake boutique treasure.
Designed by Venice-based Electric Bowery, desert accents pair perfectly with bold sculptural walls.
The hipster heyday may have come and gone, but the spirit of the style is kept alive in the best of ways at the Pool & Inn.
It’s another Palisociety property where all the upscale amenities of Big Hotel Daddy feel effortlessly independent.

With ADA compliant options at all but the most basic levels, rooms come in Queen and King, with Deluxe options, King Suites and studios.
The Queen will do for any solo travelers or couples; oversized King Suites are ideal for some extra party space.
All rooms have well-curated minibars, TVs, Nespresso machines, and soft linens. Bathrooms are stocked with Diptyque bath products and cozy robes.
The decor is as stylish as the architecture, minimalist-leaning with a definite personality. Geometric shapes in striking neutrals set off a nursery’s worth of succulents.
If Greta Gerwig made a Western set in a luxury hotel, this would be it.

- Bar & Drinks: Poolside bar with spritzes, Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas, Friday DJs.
- Other Facilities: Rooftop pool, shaded lounge chairs, limited onsite amenities, concierge partnerships.
The onsite restaurant, Marco Polo, is Italian-inspired with fresh California ingredients, always a winning combination.
You’ll find some inspired Southern California twists like a salsa verde with fresh roasted bass or the Fresno pepper panzerotti.
They’re open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the best of boozy brunches, offering bottomless mimosas on Sundays.
The bar has cocktail specials and a DJ on Fridays, with rotating specials throughout the rest of the week.
In the daytime, go to the roof, order from the striped poolside bar, and sip on a signature Spritz from the comfort of the shaded lounge chairs. The patio is bright, airy and even dog-friendly.
Like many boutiques, the hotel has limited onsite amenities but does have partnerships with nearby fitness, wellness and entertainment options.
The 24-hour concierge is well-versed on the options and will help you find everything you need.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Local Scene: At the heart of Silver Lake, known for its indie cafés, boutiques, and hipster culture.
- Outdoors: Walking paths around Silver Lake Reservoir and Griffith Park nearby.
- Access: Easy public transit to Hollywood, Downtown LA, and Beverly Hills; short drive to beaches.
The heart of LA hipsterdom, Silver Lake seems tailor-made for boutique hotels.
Surprisingly, the Pool & Inn is one of only a few. It’s undeniably the best, which is a type of exclusivity that’s hard to replicate.
East of the hotel, the East Hollywood grid gives way to winding streets lined with charming home after charming home.
Walking paths around the Silver Lake Reservoir take you past the dog park, where you can watch the puppers play.
The grandfather of LA’s snobby coffee, Intelligentsia, is just around the corner and the perfect introduction to the stylish café and restaurant scene.
The hotel is well-equipped to recommend restaurants and bars, as well as local boutiques.
When you’re ready for some capital-T touristing, public transit is easily available for trips to Hollywood, Downtown LA, and some Beverly Hills high class.
If you’re craving sand, we recommend calling a car for a beach day trip.
If you need more outside activities, Griffith Park and Observatory will be just a short drive away. Here you can enjoy a planetarium show, wander around the canyons, and watch the sun set before heading back to the hotel.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“Amazing facilities and the rooms are stunning! Awesome location too (Near Los Feliz & Griffith Park etc) with easy links to all major sites…..”
“Luxury and boutique place in Silver Lake! The rooms were incredibly lovely and comfortable. The bedding etc was spectacular. Everything was delightful. The restaurant, the patio, the pool roof deck, the views, the service – all were a delight. Can’t wait to return……”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”More availability of pool towels as these quickly went and despite requesting some for a swim – these were not brought out by staff. For the price of the room, I expected some more amenities like slippers (or maybe I did not see these?), but high quality of the things that were provided….”
”The parking could be easier – the valet is not available after hours, however the staff was great and they would just give me my car keys to get out of the facility….”
