A good majority of boutique hotels in West Hollywood were built in the 1920s, the height of Old Hollywood’s opulent glamour.
Palihotel West Hollywood has only been around since 2008, and in its current location since 2022, so if you want something more contemporary well, this may just be it.
More contemporary it may be but when it comes to interior design the Palihotels of LA certainly do like their retro.
The West Hollywood branch follows much the same formula: eclectic, with lots of mixed design elements, and much that takes you back, if not as far as the Golden Era, back a few decades anyway.
The design is also quirky, bright and cheerful without seeming garish, the amenities luxurious without being gaudy, and the exterior is minimalist without looking bland.
The Palihouse brand conveys a certain amount of homey comfort. And among LA’s rather extensive selection of Palisociety hotels, the West Hollywood location is one of the most pleasant and welcoming.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Dining: Onsite Lobby Lounge Cafe and Bar with California-inspired cuisine and stylish design.
- Special: Collaboration with Doughbrik’s Pizza for Chicago-style slices.
- Extras: Monthly drag brunch, outdoor seating, plaid lounge interiors.
- Facilities: Guest-only pool lounge, Peloton-equipped fitness center, on-demand spa services.
We love to see some unique ideas in hotel restaurants, and the Chicago-style slice collaboration with Doughbrik’s Pizza is a breath of fresh air among a sea of posh poolside tapas and no-sandals gastropubs.
If you’re looking for stylish small plates, however, you need not leave the hotel. At the onsite Lobby Lounge Cafe and Bar, the cuisine is a love letter to California, with plenty of avocado and clever twists on old classics.
The seating area extends outdoors, allowing you to enjoy your meal seated in the warm sun, if you so choose.
Inside you’ll find cleverly styled plaid lounge seats and a variety of wooden tables that lend the perfect amount of kitschy flair.
You’re in West Hollywood, so if your trip coincides with the monthly drag brunch, you’re going to get the best LA has to offer.
If you’re more for the fresh air than the party, you can lounge in the guest-exclusive pool lounge.
Palihouse West Hollywood also houses a Peloton-equipped fitness center and on-demand spa services.

Rodeo Drive will give you the ultimate luxury experience, especially if you grab a bite at one of its many upscale restaurants.
The Grove, a ‘mall’ that feels like its own tiny neighborhood, is walking distance, and a great place to spend an afternoon.
The Farmer’s Market features vendors offering local produce, imported cheeses, gourmet take out, and more.
Cultural offerings include the famous La Brea Tar Pits, the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art, and the Peterson Automotive museum. All are close by and easy to get to.
An Uber or a Lyft will take you anywhere you need to go, but if you’re the adventurous sort, the city bus will take you to all the tourist attractions of Hollywood.
And if you came to party, you’re in luck – West Hollywood really is the place to be for nightlife.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“We loved the property! It was such a cool vibe and the pool area was nice to chill at. There were nice touches like free infused water and candy at the pool. The bar and restaurant were also so good!…”
“Cool mellow vibe, great bar and late night sushi snacks we’re very nice at the beautiful cozy hip bar, great fast service valet, nicely full stocked minibar, clean room with nicely appointed furnishings, clean towels and linens, safe secure…..”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Room service – food was good. Presentation and accoutrements were subpar. Missing silverware. No salt and pepper. Missing the touch that said we care about your dining experience beyond the food. Not what I expected of a hotel that says they are luxury hotel….”
”We did have issues with the cleaning service, in that a couple of times during the week they did not enter the room…and at the price per night, you shouldn’t have to “ask” for service. (e.g. not refilling the coffee capsules, or water- we had to ask for more)….”
