The most glamorous, and most storied, of West Hollywood’s boutique hotels, Chateau Marmont provides a glimpse into Hollywood and LA’s past, present, and future.
It’s a luxury hotel but not the kind of luxury that comes with floor-to-ceiling windows and infinity pools, but that which comes with vintage mahogany and 1980s gossip that’s still worth talking about.
Even if everyone acts all nonchalant while there, Chateau Marmont’s big hitting guest list and covert atmosphere makes it a top spot for that great LA sport of celeb-spotting.

Standard rooms fill up the main building, ranging from cozy Queens to spacious suites with dining areas and full kitchens.
All rooms feature classic decor, TVs, tiled bathrooms and mini bars.
The real magic of the Château is in the bungalows and cottages though. Each one is a secluded gem with private entrances and extra-thick walls.
They’re reportedly favorite party spots of those who prefer to stay anonymous.
Bungalows can be hillside or poolside, with multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces with working fireplaces.
Cottages are definitely the most stylish, with touches of color and ornate wallpaper. They boast their own private courtyard entrances, full kitchens and luxuriant bathtubs.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Dining: Restaurant and bar famous for cocktails and atmosphere.
- Pool: Central and social, more for lounging than laps.
- Extras: Small gym, valet parking, in-room massages available.
The Restaurant at the Chateau Marmont offers delectable cocktails and savory meals. However, with LA’s wide variety of dining options close by, it’s the atmosphere that keeps people coming back again and again.
The ideal place for a celebrity sighting, the bar stays open until the early hours of the morning.
Seating spreads out to the garden patio, where you can enjoy warm LA nights with your favorite drink in hand.
Other facilities include a small gym and the pool, which lies at the heart of the Marmont and is perhaps made for sitting around more than extensive swimming.
The lush landscaping is perfectly suited for an air of peaceful seclusion.
Valet parking is available, and you can chat with the staff to set up an in-room massage or a personal trainer at the fitness center.

To the west, the beach makes a great day trip. After a day soaking and shopping in the sun you can relax by the pool or spend another night at the hotel restaurant, soaking up Hollywood’s past, present and future.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“An Oasis of Calm and Tranquility in the middle of Crazy Hollywood. Wonderful and attentive staff, very down to earth considering this is such a renowned and exclusive retreat.…”
“This property is unrivaled in its very unique history, it’s beautiful design and all around vibe. There’s no other place like Chateau Marmont in the world. Literally….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Could be noisy at night (but I suppose that is to be expected). Room furniture a bit of a hodgepodge. None of the styles matched. Quite a few of the doors had been removed which was a bit strange, especially in the bathroom area. Pool was fine but not as good as other high end LA hotels….”
”Rooms are outdated, particularly the bathrooms. I know this is part of the concept, but this is a five star hotel so i would expect at least the bare minimum without losing the historical appeal…”
