TL;DR
- Intimate stay: Only 10 rooms for a personalized Downtown Anchorage experience.
- Stylish design: Modern, chic cubic architecture with unique, playful interiors.
- Convenient location: Walking distance to downtown attractions and Coastal Trail.

It’s pretty rare to find such a teeny tiny modern inn, making this Downtown Anchorage boutique hotel a unique experience.
Most Downtown Anchorage hotels are quite large; this is a lovely exception. The combination of intimacy, excellent service, and location is a winner.
The chic, cubic modern building sets Snob Hollow apart from your typical inn from the start.
There’s something a bit charming about an intimate inn where every room looks like it was decorated by your frenemy from high school who now manages lifestyle startups in Manhattan.
What are the rooms like?
- 10 rooms: Spread across the main cube building, offering a mix of queen and king beds.
- Stylish comfort: Clean, modern, and varied decor with cozy linens.
- Functional amenities: Keurig coffee machines, TVs, and squeaky-clean bathrooms.
- See all the rooms in detail here
Accommodation is spread between the iconic cube house and a more traditional historical situation next door. All guest rooms are in the main building.
Rooms feature anywhere from 1-2 Queen beds, with the Penthouse Suite sporting two Queens and a King. The decor varies slightly throughout, but it’s all clean, stylish, and modern.
If you have the numbers or the money, The Penthouse is worth it. It boasts smashing views out of floor-to-ceiling windows and the aforementioned fuzzy white couch.
Of course, we’ll admit that not everyone needs a top-floor 3-bedroom suite, in which case all the guest rooms are more than satisfactory.
The linens are cozy, the beds are squishy, TVs are on the smaller side, but they get the job done. Each room has a Keurig machine and squeaky-clean bathrooms.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Simple breakfast: Yogurt and grains served in the guest lounge.
- Shared spaces: Clean guest lounge and small seasonal outdoor patio.
- Low-key facilities: Focused on comfort and casual service rather than luxury.
Breakfast is included, but it’s not up to par with a traditional B&B, sadly.
You’re looking at a perfectly serviceable spread of yogurt and various grains. It will get you up and keep you going, but we’d love to see a hip menu of locally-sourced small plates.
What is served, is served in the guest lounge, another sparkling clean space.
The small outdoor patio is a vision in-season, beautifully landscaped for all the greens and colors you could wish for.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Downtown convenience: Easy walking to central attractions, breweries, and restaurants.
- Nature access: Close to Coastal Trail for scenic strolls and outdoor activity.
- Day trips: Palmer’s Musk Ox Farm and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center within an hour drive.
Downtown Anchorage, near Snob Hollow, is pretty charming.
Streets are wide and easy, tucked away in a momentary suburbia before you hit the urban heart of the city, everything within walking distance.
Head down the hill towards the center and you’ll hit a local brewery and the start of the Coastal Trail in just a few minutes. Whatever you decide, we’re not here to judge. We’d go for both.
There are other attractions as well, a cute set of restaurants, museums, and a few more breweries.
The Anchorage Museum is a 15-minute walk, with the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts on the way.
You’ll also find a nice collection of monuments and murals you can visit on a day walking through downtown.
You’ll be spitting distance from the train station, but if you’ve got a car, patience and a love of pizza you can head to Midtown’s Moose’s Tooth, just a 10-minute drive away.
Home of the hidden gem, the neighborhood with a wide range of reputations, Spenard, is also just a 10-minute drive.
For a day trip, we’d advise heading either North or South. Towards the pole, it’s just an hour out to Palmer’s Musk Ox Farm, a favorite of the late, great Alex Trebek.
What is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center? Our southward recommendation is primarily a collection of fat bears that live by the sea with views towards by Portage Lake.
It’s a classic Alaska activity, just an hour’s seaside drive from Anchorage.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“So welcoming and clean, even closer to the Alaska Railroad station than we thought (easily walkable), loved the snack options and cozy finishing touches in the rooms!…”
“Amazing little inn on the edge of downtown Anchorage; all the conveniences of being downtown with none of the downsides. Downtown’s best restaurants are 2-3 blocks away….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”No additional lock inside the room. No temperature control for individual rooms….”
”Check in time….”
