TL;DR
- Gothic glamour: A dramatic 1920s bank building turned Art Deco fantasy.
- Opulent interiors: Black-and-white tiling, red velvet, gold details.
- Exclusive feel: From the bellboys to the private members-only bar.
- For luxury lovers: Ideal for those who enjoy indulgent design and cocktails in style.

Maybe it’s the name, the mood, the imposing architecture, but we imagine Hotel Gotham is where Lestat de Lioncourt stays when in town for a City match.
Interiors are as commanding as the tall arches and tiered levels of the converted 1920s bank building.
Black and white tiling and red velvet are definitely worthy of a dramatic immortal on a UK tour.
The bellboys look particularly biteable in mint-green or clean black, fully buttoned up in a classic formality that few boutique hotels go for these days.
The entire hotel is built on an opulent, self aware version of luxury, leaning into all sorts of markers of prestige.
We’re talking fancy cars, exclusive access to amenities, Art Deco design, twinkles of gold and plenty of food and drink.
If you can see yourself sipping cocktails in gorgeous spaces and becoming a member of a Supercar Club, Hotel Gotham is your place.

Rooms are a bit dark and moody, yes, but it’s Hotel Gotham after all.
You’ve got plenty of black accents, peacock motifs and fuzzy blankets that look like they were taken off artificial bears.
Chains holding all the wall decor just add to the vampire of it all, just in case you thought we were overreacting to the velvet armchairs.
They start small, we’ll warn you. Cosy Club options are 16 square meters, just under the more standard Club option, which runs more like 26.
It’s a nice way to save a bit on an upscale hotel, but for anyone but a solo traveller, we wouldn’t recommend.
The fanciest Guestroom is the Director’s, which hints at a suite and features an extra-big bed.
Suites are super-plush, with plenty of space and extra amenities. The top tier Inner Sanctum suites are a bit too Oasis green room for our taste, but we are sure they’ll appeal to many.
We’re more charmed by the Bank Manager Suite, with its shiny bathtub and velvet fainting couch.
Whichever strikes your fancy, you’ll enjoy plush linens, TVs, stylish waffle robes, well-stocked mini bars and espresso machines.
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Chic dining: Honey serves refined classics and Afternoon Tea with champagne.
- Stylish views: Elegant arched windows create a memorable atmosphere.
- Exclusive drinks: Club Brass offers cocktails in a private members-only setting.
- Special perks: Membership includes access to global private clubs.
- Elegant events: The candlelit Gilt room hosts private gatherings.
- Concierge service: On hand to organize anything guests might need.
The food is solid, and the drinks many and varied at Hotel Gotham.
The onsite restaurant, Honey, is a chic space with a solid menu of favourites available in the dining room or in your own room.
There’s a tasting menu and Afternoon Tea served up with prosecco or champagne.
The dining room has lovely views from elegant arched windows.
Club Brass is the member and guest-exclusive bar devoted to serving up tasty cocktails in a shiny setting reminiscent of both a speakeasy and a bank vault.
Membership in Club Brass includes reciprocal memberships in other exclusive clubs worldwide.
There’s also a drapey, candle-filled event space called Gilt that’s available for all sorts of lavish assemblies.
There are other, more business-like meeting rooms and a concierge determined to help you enjoy your stay to the utmost.
Unfortunately, that’s it for facilities, which is not rare for a boutique, but we like a little bit more to do in a 5-star ourselves.

”Although bed was comfy, didn’t get the best sleep….”
”It was expensive for the room and valet parking is quite expensive. But all in all it was good needs some music in the bar area as not must atmosphere….”
