Grand Hotel Son Net lies on a remarkably beautiful Mallorcan estate surrounded by the, UNESCO World Heritage listed, Tramuntana Mountains.
Its eye-catching pink building – a centuries old mansion – is incredibly lovely and showcases some sublime interior design.
It almost overshadowed by the wonderful grounds though – a mix of organic orchards, vineyards, and Mediterranean gardens – and the stunning natural setting.
It’s a sprawling yet intimate, high end luxury hotel – the perfect antidote to the crowds and the revelry of the likes of Palma or Magaluf.
If you’re an introvert, nature-lover, turned off by the island’s tourist party reputation, Grand Hotel Son Net will certainly change your mind.
What are the rooms like?
- 31 rooms and suites: spread across a palace and private stone cottages.
- Individually designed interiors: embracing lavish, historic luxury.
- Generous room sizes: starting at 35 square metres.
- Marble bathrooms: and refined touches throughout.

Here, there’s a lot of building for a fairly small number of rooms, which we love.
Grand Hotel Son Net’s main building (The Palace) sits next to a gleaming pool, surrounded by two stone cottages.
Cottage options are slightly toned down and a hair more modern; perfect for anyone wanting extra privacy.
For the rest, it’s not often that a hotel’s name is less dramatic than its decor.
Yet, inside the Palace you find suites so plush, ‘Grand’ doesn’t even begin to cover it.
In the triumph of extravagant design, decor is unique to each space, but all speak the same language of excessive historical wealth.
The most luxurious approach the edge of camp, in our opinion.
Luckily, the architecture’s Mediterranean simplicity tones everything down to a more unassuming opulence.
We’re talking curtains for days, four-poster beds dripping in florals, tasselled throw pillows to match plush headboards.
Preserved architectural details like original fireplaces and the classic wood beams bring everything down to earth.
The smallest are called Rooms, but with their 35 square metres and cute window side tables, we’ll stuff ’em in the suite category anyway.
From there, things range from 60 to 150 square metres, with varying degrees of terrace, stunning view, and luxurious marble bathroom.
All options include fresh flowers on arrival, rain showers, LCD TVs, minibars, and climate control.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Garden-driven fine dining: with seasonal Mallorcan flavours.
- Multiple dining spaces: including terrace, bar, and open-air gazebo.
- Extensive wellness area: spanning over 1000 square metres.
- Scenic fitness facilities: with mountain views.
Room rates include a daily à la carte breakfast served at the wonderfully fancy MAR & DUIX Restaurant.
Once the later hours roll around, this is the spot for super-stylish meals full of local flavour. Much of the produce comes from the hotel’s own vegetable garden.
For more casual all-day fare, head to Green Bar for snacks and tapas on an extensive terrace.
They’ve also got an absolute winner of a wine list.
Seasonal snacking happens as Gazebo, the terrace-only space with an open-air kitchen. Watch as your locally-sourced food is prepared.
And cuisine is only the beginning of the indulgences. Over 1000 square metres of Grand Hotel Son Net is devoted to wellness services.
These range from plush treatment rooms to a heated saltwater pool to sauna to ice fountain, and more.
Fitness buffs never fear, the well-equipped gym features incredible views of the surrounding landscape.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Quiet rural setting: ideal for nature lovers and introverts.
- Excellent hiking access: directly from the hotel grounds.
- Wine country surroundings: with vineyards and gardens nearby.
- Car required: for beaches and city excursions.
As we mentioned before, Grand Hotel Son Net is not the place for nightlife.
There is a village of sorts near the hotel, one full of rural Mediterranean charm.
It’s a 15-minute walk from the hotel, or a super quick drive if you’re on your way out.
Here you are in the centre of a small yet charming Mallorcan wine country. Secluded vineyards and nearby gardens make for lovely exploration.
The hiking and the views in these parts are spectacular, and can start from when you step out of the hotel.
If you want to check out a party or a beach, it’ll be a drive. Palma’s busy streets are a half hour by car.
Both the southern beaches near Cala Figuera and the eastern coast around Alcúdia are about an hour’s drive from the hotel.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
