This intimate boutique hotel in Lisbon’s upscale Amoreiras neighbourhood lives right up to its name.
Sublime Lisboa is tucked on a corner of a bright, tree-lined street, and the 20th-century townhouse it occupies has a timeless appeal.
Normally, antique buildings like this come with very ‘cosy’ (read: small) rooms, and there’s a very small bit of that here.
In general, however, every option is comfortable. Even the smaller options benefit from excellent design work.
As with many Lisbon boutique hotels, Sublime balances hip design and elegant sophistication beautifully.
Common areas abound with colour and pattern, yet it’s done remarkably deftly.
Instead of being overwhelmed by the details, you’re able to appreciate each one.
And that can include the gourmet Italian food at their Davvero Restaurant, one of the best in the city.
The subdued, high end shopping neighbourhood might be a limiting factor in our opinion.
If you want a little more activity, especially in the evenings, head south.
This is a place for appreciating architecture, design, quiet relaxation and dining.
What are the rooms like?
- 15 rooms: variety across Rooms and Suites
- Unique personality: each room has its own character without feeling niche
- Sizes: smaller options ~30 m², larger suites 50 m²+
- Outside space: many rooms have balconies or courtyard access
- Comfort & perks: bathtubs in many suites, sound systems, minibars, coffee/tea
- See all the rooms in detail here
There’s a unique personality to each room at Sublime, but nothing so niche that you feel like it’s designed for someone else.
Patterned walls behind unique headboards and authoritative wood beams hint at maximalism, balanced by swathes of white wall and real plants.
They’re divided into Rooms and Suites, but we’re not entirely sure what separates the smaller suites from the rooms.
Smaller options hit around 30 square metres, while the larger suites run over 50.
There are a few rooms with no outside space, but many have either balconies or access to a charming inner courtyard.
They’re offered with king or twin beds, as are the suites.
There’s something intimate about the Lisboa Suites, with plush living areas tucked in the corner.
Beds and bathrooms are the main events here, chic and luxurious as they are.
Sublime Suites are a little more typical in vibe, though the private balconies and open terraces are anything but average.
Most suites and some rooms include bathtubs, alongside sound systems, mini bars, coffee and tea capabilities, and working areas (we’ll admit, practicality varies here).

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Davvero restaurant: Mediterranean/Italian focus with gourmet twists
- Top-notch concierge: arranges experiences and services
- Club 7 access: gym, tennis and pool available via partnership
- Spa & wellness: full-service spa with sauna and hammam
- In-room services: massages available
Davvero Restaurant is our dining option, a very chic space with all the Mediterranean flair you could ask for.
In our opinion, it’s a perfect match for Sublime’s surprisingly quite unpretentious atmosphere.
The Italian focus means most dishes are accessible, with added modern gourmet twists that elevate them to the level of the super-stylish decor.
The concierge is top-notch, ready to organise any aspect of a dream trip to Lisbon.
With the size of the hotel, they’ve worked quite hard to make Sublime feel very luxurious indeed.
You can schedule in-room massages and a partnership with nearby Club 7 provides access to their gym, tennis courts, and pool.
The site also features a Kid’s Club, group classes, and a full-service spa with sauna and hammam.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Upscale Amoreiras: shopping and private wellness nearby
- Exclusive tone: Avenida da Liberdade within easy reach
- 30-min stroll: to Bairro Alto for nightlife and cafes
- Easy transport: taxis and concierge make trips simple
- Best for: travellers who prefer tranquillity over bustle
Like we mentioned before, Amoreiras is not necessarily the Lisbon neighbourhood for everyone.
It’s upscale, home to a famous shopping mall, and the park next door is occupied by an expensive, private wellness facility.
If you love the notion of exclusivity and finery, you’ll be happy, especially if you mosey over to Avenida da Liberdade.
The more laid back areas of Lisbon are a bit further, but the city is such that it’s not hard to get anywhere.
If you enjoy walking, the vibrant Bairro Alto is just over half an hour on foot, and, apart from a hill or two, it’s a lovely city to wander through.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The food at the Sublime was the best we had ever tasted! The chef was an amazing person who transformed each plate into a masterpiece! The best poached eggs for breakfast on the most delicate of homemade breads! Our main meal was a delight, and we even went back for an extra lunch after we had checked out. The staff are so attentive, you are not kept waiting, and the food quality is outstanding. The concierge was professional and friendly and did everything to help our stay be a good one. We shall most definitely return….”
“Such friendly staff. Constant cleaning service and turn down service. The daily little treats really added an extra touch. Rooms were spacious. Loved the access to the gym which was huge and a great perk. Breakfast was also great…..”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”A couple times the maid service left the windows open and it was quite hot out so came back to a hot room. Outside of that everything was great. …..”
”Location is away from most restaurants, coffee shops, and other walking destinations. We like to walk so we could get to the good stuff, but the connected restaurant is kinda fancy and there’s not much in the way of grab n go food or drinks around….”
