TL;DR
• Luxury boutique hotel off the coast of Cancun – a real rarity
• No holds barred high-end service with small-scale privacy
• Catamaran arrival sets the indulgent tone
• Not for authenticity but for full-on pampering
• Exclusive Impressions line of upscale Hyatt hotels
• Check prices here
We’ve got to hand it to Hyatt, they found an untapped niche in Cancun and grabbed it with both hands.
While not super-small for a boutique hotel, Impression Isla Mujeres’s combination of indulgent hospitality and small footprint is a super rare find in these parts.
The Impressions line is a series of relatively small, luxury hotels in Quintana Roo. They’re small but effective additions to a booming hotel scene with a serious lack of boutique options.
The space is carefully put-together, and nothing like the cosy, family-run boutiques you’ll find in Downtown Cancun.
It’s certainly not for those looking for authentic Mexico either, of course.
Nope, Impression Isla Mujeres is for the indulgent, those who want full service, luxury, privacy, and a White Lotus-worthy catamaran entrance.
It sure ain’t cheap either, but you probably guessed that already.
What are the rooms like?
• 125 suites — luxury across all categories
• Stylish décor blends glamour with island relaxation
• Hot-tub balconies in select Junior Suites
• Presidential Suite has its own pool & dining spaces
• In-room perks include butler service & beach gear
• See each room in detail here
Impression Isla Mujeres is a full on luxury, suites-only space.
And we’re happy to note that the decor tempers this luxury-with-a-capital-L with a nicely approachable, casual aesthetic.
Plush bedding, six-person bars, and glowing headboards are set off by a textural, nature-friendly aesthetic.
This isn’t the gold-plated opulence of the city, this is crisp linen and wood-beamed island luxury.
It’s the kind of home we imagine Ginger Grant built for herself once she got off the island (insert skibidi toilet reference here, we’re losing the youth).
There’s no suite that will disappoint; even the simplest options.
Our favorites include 760 square-foot Junior Suites with hot-tub balconies (king and double options available).
For those that like space, the Honeymoon Oceanfront Suite is an easy yes, this one with a hot tub on the furnished terrace and the best sunsets on the island.
The Presidential Suite hits 3000+ square feet, with its own pool and plenty of living space, with indoor and outdoor dining areas.
All accommodation includes climate control, blackout curtains, Nespresso machines, mini bars, smart TVs, in-room tablets, floor-specific butler service, beach gear and super-cozy robes and slippers.

• Personal butler keeps your trip organized
• 5+ dining spots with varied cuisine & rooftop bar
• Tiered pools including an impressive rooftop option
• Spa services include hammam & hydrotherapy
• Fitness & meeting facilities available
You’ll get a butler assigned for your stay, and they will keep you posted with various activities and available opportunities.
This service will ensure you get the vacation you’re looking for, and they’ve got plenty of options to choose from.
Onsite, we’re talking 5+ restaurants and bars. The food is notably excellent throughout, though there are some standouts.
This includes a cute café where you can grab pastries for breakfast, a Japanese fusion joint, plenty of Mexican-inspired cuisine, and a stunning rooftop bar with a pool.
The roof pool is not the only pool, either. They come in literal tiers.
There are also spa services onsite. This includes a hammam, sauna, massages, hydrotherapy, and more.
Those with strict schedules can take advantage of the fitness center and meeting facilities.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
• Island escape just off Cancun’s coast
• Eco-parks & reefs nearby for nature lovers
• Town area with brewery, bars & restaurants
• Boats & tours easy to book for sea adventures
Isla Mujeres is a lovely, small island off the coast of Cancun, home to some beautiful Caribbean reefs and a notable dolphin population.
It won’t take too many days to see all it has to offer, but if you take your days slowly and indulgently, we think the island can take up an excellent, relaxing vacation.
There are many different activities throughout Isla Mujeres that will appeal to everyone.
Sea-folk can book boats, tours, and dolphin swims. Garrafon Natural Reef Park is less than 10 minutes from the hotel, and offers a variety of reef-related tourist activities.
Further beyond there is Punta Sur, a small but sweet eco-park with trails to the southernmost tip of the island.
On the northern side, you get the local brewery and a little town area with restaurants and bars.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“The hotel was simply magical, everything was perfect, great facilities, excellent food, large and spacious rooms, large pools. …..”
“Came here for our honeymoon and had the best time. This is a stunning hotel with an amazing view, especially for sunset. We stayed in the signature suite which had a private hot tub on the balcony. All the staff were friendly and accomodating, the facilities were top class and the experience from start to finish was luxurious. There are great restaurants- the hibachi was our favourite. The catamaran transfer is a great way to start. You’ll never want to leave!…”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”Not a big deal but i really couldn’t understand why do we have to pay extra for just using sauna, steam room and hot-pools at the spa. 109$ just for using spa facilities? What does it mean all inclusive…”
”The beach was small but pretty….”
