TL;DR
- Half-hostel hybrid: offering a relaxed home-style stay.
- Digital nomad friendly: with shared and private rooms.
- Adults-only: and with a sociable, community feel.
- Great value: for longer stays.

Humant Coliving is a half-hostel, half boutique hotel good for a relaxed, feels like home, stay in the center of Cancun. Hence the name, of course.
It’s not the most compelling lobby, we have to say, giving more new-age law firm than chic hotel (like, tell us that sign isn’t in Papyrus).
Once you realize that the space is marketed for digital nomads, though, the startup office vibes make sense.
There’s a mix of private rooms and accommodation with shared bathrooms, making for a nice variety in pricing and atmosphere.
It’s both adults-only and geared towards the remote working crowd, so expect lots of 20 or 30-somethings with job titles that they hope will do most of the talking.
But really, they are open and welcoming to anyone. And, the hotel is small enough that you’re likely to get to know your fellow guests.
The principles of ‘co-living’ favor community and connection that promote socialization, and the professional aspect of the place keeps it from being party central.
Humant Coliving, then, is not your average boutique, or any other type of, hotel, but instead an intimate, great value home away from home in Cancun.
What are the rooms like?
- 8 rooms: total with both private and shared bathrooms.
- Simple modern look: with homey touches.
- Designed for work: with desks and storage in every room.
- Lofted suite: offers views and rooftop garden.
- See each room in detail here
The few rooms on site share a simplistic kind of modern style.
Bedspreads are printed, woodworking is chic, and quirky light fixtures, macramé, and houseplants add a homey feel.
They’re not stylish, by any means, but they are comfortable, airy, and welcoming.
The tile floors are not our favorites, but we understand the practicality, and it’s definitely the local style.
Half of the rooms feature private, ensuite bathrooms; the others utilize shared bathrooms that are well-kept and clean.
Most are double beds, with one twin and a queen in the master suite.
Other perks include balconies, and the charmingly lofted Tulum Suite sports dramatic views and a rooftop garden.
Again, these are spaces designed for remote workers. Every room at Humant features workspaces, desks, individual climate control, and storage space.
What are prices like?
And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Lots of workspaces: beyond the bedrooms.
- Board games & breaks: for downtime.
- Garden & terrace: make working pleasant.
- Hostel-style extras: like kitchen and laundry.
- Few hotel facilities: but restaurants nearby.
You don’t have to work in your room, however. The hotel has plenty of shared space where you can co-work, not just co-live (see what we did there?).
The space seems to be designed to make it slightly less tragic to be in Cancun and have to work.
You’ve got couches, you’ve got little working nooks, you’ve got board games and puzzles for when you need a break.
Add to this a garden and a terrace, and it’ll be basically painless to sit around working all day.
The rest of the space is quite hostel-y, including a shared kitchen and self-service laundry.
Turn on the shared TV and you’ll be able to argue about whether the 7th season of Game of Thrones is worth watching.
As for other typical hotel facilities, you’re out of luck. There are plenty of excellent restaurants and cafés nearby; however, we’re certain you’ll eat well.
It is almost a 10-minute walk to the nearest gym, though.
How is the neighborhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Residential location: on the outskirts of downtown.
- Walkable: to eateries and mall nearby.
- Green spaces: within 15 minutes.
- Landmarks further: best explored with a car.
- Easy day trips: including Playa del Carmen.
Humant Coliving is tucked almost on the outskirts of Downtown Cancun. The surrounding area is highly residential, in line with the ‘living’ part of the hotel’s philosophy.
Yet, it’s fairly simple to get around. There are eateries within a 10-minute walk, and a shopping mall right up the road.
A charming park within 15 minutes offers some green space, and the Malecón Tajamar is a bit further, in the opposite direction.
The more interesting landmarks of downtown, such as Centro de Cancún, Parque de las Palapas, and the Monumento a la Historia de México, are a little bit out of the way.
It’s at least 40 minutes walking, and, in this heat, if you plan on exploring lots, it’s best to have a vehicle of your own.
This isn’t just for getting around downtown, however. Checking out the beaches is easy with a car, between 10–30 minutes in different directions.
And the whole Riviera Maya is yours to explore too, tourist hotspots like Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum are all within a couple of hours to the south.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“From the moment we arrived, we as a couple in our mid twenties felt safe and welcome. The property is located in a quiet neighbourhood with security gates which made us feel more at ease. The location is brilliant for walking to local shops, malls and restaurants. Everything about the property itself was brilliant, including the rooms, kitchen facilities and shared living space. Staff were so lovely and made sure you had all the information needed for a great stay 🙂 thank you so much!…”
“This is a beautiful property tucked into a residential area of Cancun. Each booking has a private room, and the rest of the house is shared by all guests. The kitchen and living room have all needed accessories and is very welcoming and comfortable…..”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The only slight issue we had was the pressure and temperature of the shower, however it didn’t ruin our experience of staying in this lovely property….”
”One short set of stairs up to this room are a tight fit and a bit awkward with bags, so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues….”
