Corte Di Gabriela is an adults-only, boutique hotel in a classic-Venice, rosy-hued building amongst the canals.
It’s another renovated palazzo, of course, maybe not so special in itself, but this hotel has perfected every other aspect.
The contemporary decor gives the space a fresh, modern feel, avoiding the sometimes stuffy opulence of historic hotels in Venice. Instead, the design leans toward elegant simplicity.
If you want to feel completely catered to, Corte Di Gabriela might not be the place, as the atmosphere here is more homey and laid back than most luxury hotels.
Service is notably warm and friendly, though there’s not a whole lot of facilities. They offer one of the best hotel breakfasts in Venice, and have a wonderfully homely little bar that becomes a bit of a social hub for guests.

The rooms at Corte Di Gabriela offer a relaxed sort of luxury. They’re quite unique; no cookie-cutter decor happening here.
Some feature striped wallpapers, others lovely moulded, painted ceilings. The furnishings are comfortable if variable; some have squishy modern armchairs, others cute antiques.
It’s hard to go wrong here. We recommend snagging whatever room is available and settling in, but there are some decisions.
Views can include the canal or the garden, both lovely, but different. Some Junior Suites have lovely, quite romantic balconies.
The open-concept Spa Suite has a fantastic private sauna that we adore. It gets booked up quickly so we recommend you snag it immediately if you see it free for your dates.
Still, even the simple Comfort Rooms are great. They offer key baseline amenities like independent climate control, a TV with international channels, a mini bar and kettle, robes, and indoor footwear.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Exceptional breakfast: – fresh pastries, fruit, eggs, and excellent coffee are a major highlight.
- Cosy bar: – relaxed aperitivos and cocktails create a sociable guest atmosphere.
- Charming spaces: – enjoy drinks in the courtyard or the library-style lounge
- Warm hospitality: – staff maintain the same welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel.
- Helpful concierge: – plus a range of local experiences and tours on offer.
The breakfast at Corte Di Gabriela is famously delicious.
We’re talking the freshest of pastries and fruit, excellent, home-brewed coffee, and delightful egg-based and other nibbles.
We also love how it can be breakfast or our more favourite: brunch. The hotel can cook it up fresh for you, pretty much whenever you decide to crawl down the stairs.
As daytime moves on you can find yourself at the small bar, chatting with staff and fellow guests over an afternoon aperitivo, an evening cocktail, or a nightcap.
This can take place in the airy courtyard, within a cosy library-esque area, or by the grand piano.
It’s not a large hotel, so facilities are notably minimal. What you do have, though, is a great concierge and a whole range of excursions and interesting experiences to choose from.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Balanced location: – peaceful for San Marco, while still close to Venice’s main sights.
- Walkable attractions: – St. Mark’s Square and Rialto are both around 10 minutes away.
- Easy transport: – San Angelo vaporetto stop is just minutes from the hotel.
- Great wandering area: – ideal for getting lost in Venice’s canals and backstreets.
- Island connections: – simple routes towards Murano, Lido, Dorsoduro, and beyond.
San Marco is touristy, the main centre of a Venice visit bucket list. This means excellent proximity to most of what you’ll want to see, but quite a lot of crowding.
Luckily, Corte Di Gabriela sits on the northern end, about as far from Saint Mark’s Square as you can get and still be in the neighbourhood.
It nicely balances location with a relatively sedate atmosphere.
Since it’s not a huge neighbourhood, you’re still an easy 10-minute walk away from the square. But you’ll enjoy the relative peace of somewhere more remote.
Other attractions like theatres, museums, and more are super-close, and the San Angelo vaporetto stop is minutes from your front door.
From there, you can head towards the train station or down towards Dorsoduro, the University district.
The line through the Grand Canal connects easily to lines headed towards Murano, Lido, and the other islands.
If you want to simply wander the canals, it’s the perfect place. Ponte Rialto is a 10-minute stroll through Venice’s romantic twists and turns, connecting you to the other side of the Grand Canal.
