Vico Milano is an intimate (just 7 rooms!) boutique hotel in the heart of Ticinese, Milan’s most bohemian neighbourhood
The atmosphere is different here, in a good way. Furnishings are distinctive, they don’t like too much predictable here.
Yet it’s always somehow homey, more like the eclectically decorated home of a Milanese fashion family than a swish hotel.
The Speakeasy is Vico Milano is their bar and restaurant.
It’s small in size but big in reputation. It’s a well-known spot that arguably outshines the hotel itself.
The food and drinks are excellent, attracting a loyal local crowd, and it’s just a great place to have downstairs.
What are the rooms like?

You have a small range of options, unsurprising for such an intimate space.
Vico Milano’s guest rooms are lovely small-ish spaces, 22 square metres with king-sized beds.
They’re simple and perfect, the rosy marble of the bathrooms beautifully luxurious, crisp white linens and gleaming light wood friendly and inviting.
Suites are the stunners, even the smaller options offering two floors of comfort. Modern wooden staircases lead up to comfortable beds, a cosy living area sitting on the ground floor.
Luxury Suites are our favorites, call us basic, call us what you will. They’re still not huge, but impeccably designed nonetheless.
The bottom level offers a seating room, dressing area, and gorgeous bathroom complete with Moroccan tiling.
The upstairs bedrooms are dreamy affairs comprised mostly of bed, in the best of ways.
Whatever you choose, amenities are on point. Smart TVs for entertainment, individual climate control, and heated towel racks accompany excellent mini bars and coffee machines.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- Excellent breakfasts: – A strong morning offering served in Vico’s elegant lounge.
- Speakeasy dining: – A popular cocktail bar and restaurant with a loyal local following.
- Creative cocktails: – Original drinks and contemporary takes on Italian classics.
- Boutique scale: – Few facilities, but staff are happy to arrange outside facilities.
Great breakfasts are to be had in Vico’s elegant lounge, but the real focus of the dining program here is dinner and drinks.
The Speakeasy is Vico Milano’s sleek bar area where guests and locals alike come for lengthy dinners and relaxed cocktails.
It’s a dark, intimate space, perfect for a date or a treat to yourself. Cocktails are far from lazy classics, they’re rotating fresh creations formed at the fingertips of dedicated bartenders.
Try a Vico Sour, or Night on Fire to give you an idea.
Food is, unsurprisingly, Italian, pan Italian classics abound but with their own contemporary twists.
Try their Fassona beef carpaccio or risotto alla Milanese with wild boar ragù we’d say.
In such a small hotel, it’s not surprisingly that there aren’t too many other facilities. The staff though have recommendations for gyms, spas and plenty more.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Creative district: – Located in Milan’s bohemian Ticinese neighbourhood.
- Local atmosphere: – Surrounded by independent cafés, bars, artists and students.
- Walkable sights: – The Duomo and Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio are within easy reach.
- Well connected: – De Amicis metro station provides quick access across the city.
The neighbourhood is excellent. Vico Milano isn’t far from the very centre, but the location keeps everything more laid back.
Ticinese is known for alternative vibes, and the hotel’s immediate surroundings apparently agree.
The building was formerly a fashion atelier, and a vague post-industrial atmosphere permeates the surrounding area, no matter how homey they’ve made the hotel.
Bars and cafés throughout the neighbourhood make for late nights surrounded by students, artists, and anyone looking for something equally creative but less upscale than the iconic Brera.
It’s a nice way to enter the city, especially when you consider that the famous Duomo is a 20-minute walk towards the centre.
The Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio is only 10.
It’s even shorter if you’re open to exploring the metro system; the De Amicis station is only a block from the hotel.
From here you have access to the entire centre of the city, including both train stations and all of the stunning parks.
