The Dylan, Dublin’s only 5-star boutique hotel, has 72 rooms neatly tucked away just steps from Baggot Street and the Grand Canal.

Recently redesigned and renovated to great effect, we think it certainly looks the part.

More modern in style now, post-renovation, of course, much of that old-style elegance, though, is still on display.

There’s much we like about The Dylan – the rooms are spacious and luxurious, the staff are great, the food of the highest order, and the hotel bar is lively and friendly.

Each room has its own character, and they come in three different levels – Luxury, Deluxe, and what they refer to as Experience rooms – suites, essentially.

There’s not a lot to choose between their entry-level ‘Luxury Rooms’ and the Deluxe level, except for some extra space (26 m² as opposed to 20) and a few extra fancy design features.

The suites are nicely done, but not, at 30 m², a huge amount larger than the Deluxe, though they do have a separate living space with a sofa-bed to accommodate a couple of extra guests if needed.

All accommodation features some lovely handmade furniture pieces, Good Food Ireland complimentary hospitality trays, Nespresso machines, and smart bathrooms with top-of-the-range showers.

Dining: The Eddison offers inventive contemporary Irish cuisine with veranda seating.
Bar: Lively Dylan bar with pub food classics and a good drinks list.
Spaces: Nurserie Terrace outdoor patio and the cozy, guests-only Ruby Room.
Facilities: No gym onsite but residents can use Aorta gym nearby; secure parking and concierge available.

The Eddison, with outdoor veranda seating, is open for top-notch, made-to-order breakfasts, plus some beautifully fresh and inventive, contemporary Irish cuisine for lunch and dinner.

The Dylan bar is a cozy, intimate place that has an extensive pub food menu – classics such as burgers and club sandwiches as well as various soups, salads, pastas, etc.

It also has a good range of beers, spirits, wines, and cocktails.

We have a heated outdoor patio here, The Nurserie Terrace, which has table service from the bar’s menu, and a separate, cosy, guests-only bar, the Ruby Room, open every evening.

There is no gym at the hotel but residents can access the Aorta gym, just around the corner.

There’s secure parking at The Dylan and a very good concierge service.

Setting: Quiet side-street location beside the Grand Canal and Baggot Street.
Walkable: Grafton Street and St. Stephen’s Green – a pleasant 20-minute stroll.

The hotel is on a calm side street, a few steps from Dublin’s Grand Canal and Baggot Street, which has more a few lively pubs, cafes, and restaurants.

Grafton Street, St. Stephen’s Green, and the South City Center are a pleasant 20-minute stroll away.

”Our room was near the stairwell and could hear noise in the mornings which we assume were staff coming in and out about 7am. False fire alarm went off for a few seconds one morning around 7.30am and then speaker to say it was false alarm…..”

”It wasn’t clear at first that we needed to enter the hotel through the steakhouse. Also there were noisy guests running around the hall and making noise at 11pm at night….”
