This central boutique hotel sits near Quinconces, in the heart of Bordeaux’s elegant city centre.
Tucked on a tree-lined avenue, surrounded by grand Neoclassical architecture, Villas Foch really does fit right in.
There’s plenty of grandeur to be admired at Villas Foch, and we love the bespoke artwork in the common areas designed to fit perfectly inside the 19th-century sandstone walls.
There’s a pretty perfect blend of historical and modern in the space, classic architecture tempered by bold yet sophisticated colour.
We’re talking chequerboard marble tile meets wrought iron railings and moulded ceilings near LED mood lighting.
It all works together beautifully, perhaps best for those that like a little pomp, but still there’s a friendly quality that, we feel, would make anyone feel welcome.

Rooms at Villas Foch take this friendliness and build on it. They feel comfy, drawing on the softness of the sandstone with light florals and dusky pinks.
These temper the otherwise black and white spaces, adding a touch of modernism to the whole thing.
Room sizes range pretty considerably, so if you like a lot of space, take note. The smallest rooms, called Cosy, clock in at around 18 square metres.
You’ll jump up relatively quickly to 30 square metre Prestige Rooms, which feature bathtubs and/or balconies.
Junior Suites are around the same, but have a little more old-world charm than the smaller rooms, and a terraced option on request.
Then, once you’re into the realm of the Suites, you’ve got a perfect balance of elegant classicism and modern touches.
Glass walls and plenty of white make everything feel spacious, complimented by parquet flooring and stunning views.
All of Villas Foch’s rooms are well-equipped with amenities like soft robes and slippers, Nespresso machines and kettles, desks, seating, minibars and TVs.

And what’s the food like? Any facilities we should know about?
- All-day bar – Le Ferdinand covers cocktails, caviar, local wine and relaxed drinks by the fire.
- Atmospheric library – The hotel’s library provides an intimate setting for unwinding with a drink.
- Heated pool – A striking sandstone-vaulted spa includes a heated pool and relaxing fitness room.
- Wellness – Guests can also enjoy the onsite sauna and massage treatments.
Le Ferdinand, the hotel bar/heaven, somehow manages to do it all in one small space.
Looking for a quick pick-me-up after a long day exploring? Stop in for a perfectly crafted cocktail.
Need a quick bite of caviar to up the ante on your holiday’s luxuriousness? Look no further.
Want a place to curl up in front of the fire with a glass of local red? They can do that, too. The Villas Foch library makes it even more atmospheric.
And then there’s the spa, just in case you thought it couldn’t get any better. A sandstone barrel vault over the shimmering tile of a heated pool, next to a somehow relaxing kind of fitness room.
Of course, we also want to highlight the joys of sauna and massage, both of which are available onsite.
How is the neighbourhood? Anything interesting nearby?
- Quinconces – The hotel sits around the corner from Place des Quinconces in the heart of central Bordeaux.
- City highlights – Triangle d’Or shopping, chic brasseries, historic monuments and museums are all within easy reach.
- Riverside – The Garonne is about 10 minutes away, offering waterfront walks and boats across to La Bastide.
- Cultural contrast – The river leads towards Bordeaux’s more bohemian side, including the Darwin cultural centre.
There’s plenty to see nearby, as Villas Foch sits in one of Bordeaux’s most central locations.
It’s definitely Downtown, arguably within the Quinconces neighborhood, as it is around the corner from the gorgeous Place des Quinconces.
We love the location for its proximity to both the posh indulgences of Triangle d’Or and the simpler joys of the river Garonne.
You can take advantage of all the chic brasseries in the area, no problem; enjoy the designer shopping, then just laze or stroll by the banks of the river.
Admire the historical monuments, and drop into some museums; The Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts is our favourite.
The waterfront is a 10-minute walk away, with access to boats that can ferry you across to the west side of La Bastide, and a more bohemian side of the city.
Along that west side of the river you’ll find plenty of places to party.
While there, be sure to check out the Darwin Cultural Centre, once a military barracks, now an art and cultural space, with suitably bohemian, alternative vibes.
