La Fantaisie, in Paris’ 9th, reimagines the luxury hotel experience through colourful interiors, floral motifs and playful design, choosing warmth and character over 5-star formality.
Disguised by a relatively modest modern exterior, the interiors burst into pinks and florals, and intricate patterns grace each wall.
It’s a bit on the girly side; something like the set an arthouse film director would create for a modern-day fairy tale.
It’s also very much a 5-star hotel, though, and between lush gardens, a highly-rated onsite restaurant, and an indulgent spa, La Fantaisie provides plenty of space to indulge any inner princess.

The hotel in general might be a fever dream, but guestrooms are toned down enough to make most people feel comfortable.
They’re still darling, though, and keep plenty of the royalesque charm of the hotel in many decorative touches.
Comfort rooms start at 20 square metres, with garden or street views, followed by larger Superior and Deluxe options, some of which have terraces.
If you’re dying for some outside space, there are terraced options in 38 square metre junior suites and 47 square metre full suites.

- Garden restaurant: – relaxed surroundings paired with refined cooking.
- All-day café: – ideal for coffee, drinks and watching neighbourhood life.

The food is notable, headed by a Michelin-starred chef and recommended far outside the confines of the hotel.
The cuisine is lovely, unassuming, and fresh, and the space is as pleasing to the eye as the rest of the hotel.
There is al fresco dining, and/or just lounging about in the equally lovely gardens too.
La Fantaisie offers two other spots for socializing, but they’re focused on beverages.
The café provides brews of all kinds from morning until night. Some outside seating there allows a nice, very Parisian, connection to the street.
And then there’s not-to-miss rooftop Bar Sur le Toit, a bright, engaging space serving small plates and cocktails.
Gazing over rooftops from the top-floor garden is quite a treat.
Continue the treats with a visit to La Fantaisie’s onsite spa, which takes the vibrant decor to the tiles.
An array of gorgeous spaces done up in mosaic plants is the ideal space for some serious relaxation.

Paris’ 9th arrondissement is home to the famed Palais Garnier opera house, aroudn 15 mins walk from the hotel, near plenty of other museums and theatres.
The atmosphere isn’t super fancy; it feels more casual and suits La Fantaisie’s laid-back luxury. Still, there’s plenty to see all around the hotel.
The area is full of interesting spots for a night out, as well as beautiful architecture, bakeries, and cheese shops.
A few Art Nouveau department stores make for sophisticated window shopping.
It abuts the famed Montmartre, and it’s only about a 20-minute walk to Sacré-Cœur. From there, you can easily wander to the cemetery.
And when you’re ready to explore the rest of Paris (or if…) La Fantaisie offers the easiest access to the Cadet metro station, minutes from Gare du Nord.
It will also easily connect you to Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, and the myriad attractions on the south side of the Seine.
And what about the reviews? What did other guests think?
Some things guests liked:
“An absolutely beautiful stay at La Fantaisie. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated from the stunning rooftop floral bar, to the gorgeous mosaic-tiled spa that became my sanctuary after long days exploring the city. The rooms were incredibly stylish, with a playful yet luxurious feel and the music throughout the hotel perfectly matched the chic Parisian atmosphere. The staff were warm, welcoming, attentive… and yes, exceptionally handsome too. A hotel with real personality, charm, and soul. I would return in a heartbeat….”
“The hotel was exceptionally clean and had a pleasant, welcoming scent throughout. The room was relatively spacious, especially by Parisian standards, and the attention to detail was truly impressive. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient, even for first-time visitors to Paris. Definitely not be my last time staying here. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay….”
Some things guests didn’t like:
”The fragrance scent in the hotel, my guest was allergic and had to change hotels….”
”One area I think could be elevated further is the breakfast experience. The buffet itself was lovely and beautifully presented however, the à la carte options felt very similar to what was already available on the buffet. With several chefs working to maintain the breakfast service, it feels like there is an opportunity to introduce a few more unique or elevated made-to-order dishes for guests wanting something a little more special….”
